If you have a problem, most people can see it. And yes, society labels people. When I was younger, I was the fat nerd. Now I'm a little older and it's not so bad. I'm not really fat anymore, but I could afford to lose a few pounds. People aren't used to seeing anorexic or bulimic people, so it can be a change for some. I was on a poker run with my step dad one day, and I saw a friend of my dads there. She isn't anorexic, but she CANNOT gain wait, and she looks like she is. My step dad commented about it and I realized that society can be cruel. So don't worry about what other people tell you...and if you're mad about people always calling you anorexic and things like that; fix it.

Best of luck.

If you're not doing anything about it, it is necessary. People DIE from it, and despite what you might think, it's unattractive to most people to be deathly thin. You can say you don't want to be that thin, but then when you get down to your goal weight, you'll say, "5 lbs more, 5 lbs more." It's dangerous - not only could you die, have growth and mental defects, and develop diabetes from near-starvation or starvation, but being so malnourished can cause you not to even be able to fight off a cold. Or if you were in a car accident, your body may not be able to save itself because you are so weak from lacking vitamins and proteins and iron and carbohydrates.

Is it worth it? There are people who are thin and fit the healthy way, but why do you choose the way that causes your weight to fluctuate, your body to start eating its own organs, and consumes your whole life?

Its a dis-ease and when you have a dis-ease they have to label it to come up with a cure. The best thing you can do is try to get help so you will not be anorexic and therefore we will label you something else evrybody has a label no matter what. That is how society is. SORRY!

If they care about you, yes. Anorexic is a serious and potentially fatal condition that requires treatment. They aren't labeling you as much as trying to help you realize the situation.

I have suffered from Anorexia for 12 years and I hate the constant reminder from everyone, I do not know if they do it because they care or because they just want to drive you crazy. It is not like I do not think about it enough has it is, and when I get nasty about it they get upset. Go figure. I have never understood it in 12 years I think more than anything it is their way of not understanding but them trying to help in some odd way.

People are probably telling you that you are anorexic as they want you to recognise that you have an illness that needs treatment. I doubt that anyone is 'labelling' you to be nasty or to hurt you, even though it can feel like that at times.
It sounds like a lot of people love you, and care for you, and they want you to get better.
If you think you are ready to get help for this illness, then please talk to someone - there is help out there - and you can recover.
Take care.

It is not a Label - it's is a disease.
If you know you have it - are you trying to help yourself
to get better?
People want to help but go about it the wrong way, sometimes.
If you are in treatment tell them. If not - than they will have to tell
over and over again that you a sick and need help.

The people who care for you feel it is necessary to tell you because they want to help you, most people with eating disorders are in denial about how bad their situation really is. anorexia is not just about starving yourself, there is a major emotional/mental aspect that has to be taken care of. your friends/family probably don't know how to help you so they think telling you that you're ill will fix the problem. please see a psychiatrist, or go to a clinic for rehab. best of luck.

yes, it is really necessary for everyone to tell you since you don't seem to get it. anorexia is deadly! you get that? deadly. you could die, may possibly be dieing now.

it's not a thing about starving to death either. long before the real starvation type symptoms set in your immune system breaks down. your blood system fills with toxins.

i do understand. i spent two weeks in intensive care, getting my blood washed and filtered, getting nutrients pumped in, two major surgeries (both the same day!), huge pockets of toxins.
