I hear a lot of people say on here, "You've got to let them go. If they come back, it is love." What exactly is letting them go? Not talking to them? Ignoring them? Because forgetting her is not possible.

Letting someone go is basically just a phrase meaning to not speak to them unless they contact you and let them do whatever they want to, go wherever they want to and be with whomever they choose. Of course you can't always forget someone. But, it is true that if they choose to return to you it is because they cared about you deep down all along. But, in my opinion, if someone needs to be let go for whatever reason they have, I would hesitate in taking them back because every time the road gets difficult they will want to escape from you for a while and that is not fair.

OHH Randyken, I am so sorry. I know and have felt the pain you are in. YUK especially at Christmas. Let her go means just that. DON'T call Don't visit, don't ignore her either. It sounds like you may still be in close proximity (like school). The best way to deal with that is when you see her and your heart tears a little more is to Avoid her. Turn and go the other way whenever possible. I live in a small town and would see him with his new flavor out and about. I thought I would die. But I didn't. In time I met someone new, who treated me very well and the pain eventually went on. Forget? NO WAY. Forgive and move on. Absolutely. Merry Christmas. I am so sorry for your loss. Nana

I think by letting go they mean that you are just accepting that its not meant to be and moving on. The poeple that you are letting go of have usually already moved on. This happens after breakups and deaths of a loved one. In that case, letting go of a dead loved one can mean just accepting that are gone and remembering all the impacts that you had on their life and the good times you had together.....but not being sulky and depressed because of it. I hope I helped to answer your question!

i feel that way too.... you see... just like in real life when there are strong people and weak people it is on internet and there is a certain relevance for every answer you get.. so if the weak guy is reading your question he'll probably tell you to go hide in the mountains... same for girls.... at the end it is up to you to pick which answer means the most...

and im assuming they didnt say "let them go" they meant back off... its basically giving him/her a little more space thats what backing off is for.. not to ignore them.

It's a stupid saying that falls under the "soul mate" category. Don't pay any attention to it. This is like saying that fate controls everything and you control nothing. Actions are what determine if relationships work or not, not blind faith in fate!

When a relationship reaches this point, it's over. Move on.

many people define letting go as trying to forget them. Face it. THe harder you try to forget them , the more you think of them .

Letting is actually to accept that its over . we live in denial and keep blaming ourselves or we keep wanting them back. its true. even I do that .. however to let go is to accept the fact that its over. its done. its finished. game over. then you gotta accept that its time to move on. you gotta accept that ..

that hey, she still exist in my life and i cant forget her, but that doesnt mean i cant get someone new now.
