It depends if the dog has behavioral problems, if it's purebreed, and if it has health problems. If it's a perfect pit bull... you could probably get $100-200 out of it. If it has all of these problems, you probably want to just give it away if you are serious about selling it. If it has behavioral problems, you should probably sell it for $50. If it has health problems, $75. Good luck, and happy holidays!!!!

Dogs are worth the most at 8 weeks (as puppies) and if they have achieved a skill (like search & rescue or therapy work) or high level titles (AKC Champion, Obedience Utility Dog, Herding Champion, etc.).

Dogs that have no skills and are no longer puppies are not worth much comparatively. If you can get someone to buy the pup for $50, you should take it. You would do better to locate a really good home willing to do good by the dog and give him away. Where I live, the shelter is full of Pits about your dog's age so the value is even less. People are more inclined to go save a life than buy from a private person.

$25. It is RABIES shot. Does it have ANY other vaccines....like the puppy series that protect against parvo and the other diseases?? Has it been wormed??????

To the moron down below that breeds $400 POS Pyrs....Show dogs DO have a job. Mine go to shows some weekends, and the rest of the time they are walking in the woods with me, hauling wood, training for draft or water work, doing obedience, or giving cart rides at the park.
Your excuse is common among BYB that know they CAN'T show their crap dogs so they say they don't care for show dogs!!! If you did show and had GOOD pyrs, you would be getting a LOT more than $400 for them!!!!! Maybe you should not belittle something you have NO CLUE about!!!!!!

I think pitbull is a nickname. The breed that is called pitbulls are recognized by the AKC. If this is correct the dogs should be worth a few hundred dollars.
I breed AKC Great Pyrenees. People in are area get $100-$200 for non AKC dogs. Mine go for $400 each and that's cheaper than many. Show dogs can bring $1000 each.
I believe a dog should have a job and/or be a family companion. I don't care for show dogs.

the cost of the rabies shot +$25 is all he is worth unless he is a registered dog and his parents were taken to shows etc...since you are calling it a pit bull I assume there are no papers...
many states have "lemon" laws for puppies so you need to beware that selling for more unless you put added value into him can get you in trouble...
unless you can offer a health guarantee he isnt worth a heck of a lot more than the cost of the shots he has had

also screen potential new owers
- do they have a FULLY fenced yard?
- do they own their own home (dont take their word for it if they say they have landlord permission - call the landlord yourself)
-will they spay or neuter (if not.. dont let them have it)
- have they owned pets before?
- do they have kids? ages? dont let a pit or ANY dog go to people with kids under 6yrs... too much work...
-how many hours are they home?

dont be afraid to say NO

Pit bulls are not a recognized breed by the AKC, so they are not "purebreds".. I see so many people giving them away, and tons at the pound. I would think you might be able to get 75-100.00 for him IF he has ALL of his shots, a series of 3-4 plus rabies and has been wormed several times.

200+. A dog with all it's shots, toys, and all it's junk and stuff, don't listen to anybody that says it should be less than two-hundred for a starting price. More if it's a purebred (there IS such thing as a pure bred pitbull.). If it doesn't sell, you might need to bring the price down, but I can't imagine it not selling, that's a bargain if you ask me.

If he has papers, about $100. If he doesn't, you might get $25-50. Just make sure to carefully screen any potential buyers. We all know what some people do to their pit bulls.

I see pure bred dogs range $200 to $500 or more. It depends on where you live. You might look in your local paper to see how much they are running in that area.
