The dvds of the TV series are only produced full screen. I have a new widescreen HDTV. I didn't even think of this problem before I bought the TV. Is there a way to change something on the TV or DVD player to be able to watch without people looking like a fun house mirror reflection? Thanks so much.

well, here is the thing, inevitably, the image that you want to see is squared (nearly) where the screen where you want to se that image is rectangular, when you whatch this kind of shows on a screen like that there is going to be a downside somewhere.

the settings to change are on your TV, there is going to be a button on your remote that says something like "aspect" or "zoom" when you press that button on your remote while watching your show, if you leave it on "normal", the image is properly square but 2 black bars appear on both sides of the screen, allowing your image to have the correct aspect ratio.
if you keep on pressing the button, you will probably come across a setting named "Zoom" which will fill up your screen, but you will loose the top and the bottom part of your image.
of course you are familiar with the "wide" or "cinema" setting.

There should be a setting on your HDTV, something like "Picture Format" or "Picture Size," that should let you change the aspect ratio to 4:3. You should also look at the settings of your DVD player--there should be a setting that tells it what type of TV it outputs to; verify that it knows it's outputting to a 16:9 TV set (it's conceivable that it's outputting a 4:3 signal and your TV is just "zooming in" to compensate, resulting in a less-than-ideal picture and, perhaps, your funhouse problem).

this is all I ever purchase. No offense & with all due comprehend , screw Blu Ray format ! Lol. Too costly format for the main area. Sorry Blu Ray followers ! this is not something own , yet DVD format does it for me to finished one hundred% delight. I by no skill mandatory or asked for extra. I care extra approximately what is going on interior the action picture & the readability & the extra suitable recording or crisper recording of it in straightforward terms impresses me for seconds & the actual important area of DVD's & or Blu Ray's is the damn action picture. the time-honored of the Blu Ray format in straightforward terms impresses me for split moments & then what all of it boils right down to is what the action picture call is & what this is approximately. i do no longer watch a action picture constantly continuously thinking approximately or talking approximately how magnificent the time-honored is. high quality is positive , despite the fact that this is not each and every thing while it includes forgetting with regard to the time-honored as quickly as you're deep in theory & all wrapped up interior the plot of observing a action picture. damn the extra suitable high quality. the time-honored is short lived. i won't be ready to tell the version between DVD & Blu Ray format(s) , nor do I care with regard to the version of Blu Ray or DVD. i'm no longer inspired lots approximately high quality of the Blu Ray video as i'm extra with regard to the totally value of the action picture & observing it. No offense. :-) Lol !!
