Think of Ice water and vapor all the same but different or an egg is one thing but it has a shell a yolk and a the white. Or a man is a man but he can also be a father a son and a brother at the same time and is still the same man. Sorry God could probaly explain it better.

It's a VERY complex concept that was "agreed upon" at the Council of Nicea to "better explain" the nature of the one true God, His Son Jesus and the Holy Ghost.
The word "trinity" itself became almost as much of a problem (seized upon by Muhammed when he was inventing islam, as an example) for people who weren't able to grasp the concept.
Simply stated: the true nature of God is very complex...in fact, more complex than we can understand given the limits of our experiences and intellect. Just because WE can't understand God's nature doesn't mean that His nature is wrong or doesn't exist. It just means that we can't understand.
While the term "trinity" wasn't used in the bible (of course it wasn't used...it was defined 600 years later), there are MANY places where the nature of God is implied as multi-faceted (for use of a better word).
The reaction to reject/deny the nature of the one true God is what leads to such simple-minded false gods as allah and islam.

The trinity is a mystery, in which Jesus is both fully man and fully God. I have some ancient writings about it from a Catholic sight, then there is more complete description at another site.
Anyhow, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all one in being.

Trinity is a term that refers to the "Triune God." That's to say, God is one being, even though He is revealed as 3 seperate persons - Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit. It is a state of existence that escapes us as human beings, because only God is capable of it. See the link below for more details.

The concept that God the Father, his son Jesus christ and the Holy Ghost are one, but can work seperately as well. Like when Jesus got babtized and Jesus was being babtized by John. the Holy Ghost showed up as a dove and everyone heard God's voice. All three at the same time. Its like a three leaf clover. One but seperate. One leaf, with three seperate leaves. Its like me, I am a person, but I am a mother, a sister and a daughter.

The Holy Trinity is part of Christianity: it consists of Jesus, the Son of God, The Holy Spirit and also God the Father. Jesus is God who came down to earth as the Son of God. He came to earth to heal all of our sins and this is where Christmas gets its name, because he is born and clebrated on the cross. He sacrificed his life on Easter for all of our sins on earth. The God the father is the one who created the world before Jesus came around. He is regared as everyone's father for that purpose. The Holy Spirit though, is similiar but no human form and that is what the Holy Trinity is.

God the Father.
God the Son.
God the Holy Spirit.
All one being and three separate entities at the same time.
as there has never been such a thing on earth,
it is extremely hard for humans to understand.
That is why Christians accept it by faith.
Merry Christmas!

the trinity is the idea of one god of christianity existing in three forms - the father, the son (jesus christ), and the holy spirit. they are supposedly the same god just in different forms because the idea of polytheism (many gods) is against christianity. its a little sketchy to me though : D

I was taught to understand it this way. There is only one God, but He comes in 3 forms, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Just like water can be ice, water, or vapor/steam, but it's always still water and matter can be solid, liquid, or gas, but it's always still matter.
