I have 5 NY Strip steaks for Xmas Eve dinner tonight. Our outdoor grill is packed away for the winter so I thought about the George Forman grill instead of the broiler. Has anyone cooked any? If so, how did you prepare them? Also, what temperature? My grill has a temp setting. Hate to ruin these nice steaks.

Check your instruction book for the temperature as well as other instructions. Mine doesn't have temperature settings. We always season and add a little smoke flavoring so they taste like they've been on the outdoor grill. Whatever you do... don't overcook them. Medium rare is best. Preheat the grill while preparing your side dishes and have them ready by the time you put the meat on the grill. It won't take long for those steaks, even if they're quite thick.

Awesome recipe!!!!!! I adjusted the quantity to fit your situation.
ENJOY!!!!!

Bourbon Street New York Strip Steak

INGREDIENTS
5 (6 ounce) boneless New York strip steaks
5 cups bourbon whiskey
3 cups dark brown sugar

DIRECTIONS
Gently tenderize steaks with a meat mallet. With a sharp knife, lightly score the meat on one side diagonally. Place steaks in a casserole dish, scored side up, and pour bourbon over them. Rub the brown sugar evenly over each steak. Marinate in refrigerator for 1 to 3 hours.

Preheat grill to high heat, and lightly oil grate.
Place the steaks on the hot grill, with the sugar side down. Let cook until sugar has caramelized, 3 to 5 minutes, then flip steaks, and finish cooking to desired doneness.

absolutely, remember these things
1. you only cook them for half as long (assuming the grill is closed) you're cooking them on both sides at once.
2. season them as you normally would
3. coat the grill with oil after it's hot and before the steaks are put on the grill (has nothing to do with cooking, but it makes clean up easier.
4. if the steaks are really thick 1-1/2 " or thicker they may not cook evenly unless your grill is one that hinges to allow the top lid to adjust for thicker things (my new one swivels in the middle of the lid to allow the lid to remain level with thicker steaks (I do really thick sirloins)
