He licks himself everywhere, bites his paws, bites his butt, and there are red scars from places he licked and bit too much on his butt. He's on a million pills, but nothing works. Does anyone know of anything that will surely cure his itchys?

food allergies most likely - what are you feeding him??

avoid - soy, wheat, beef, pork, corn, even chicken and chicken fat

lamb and rice is considered the best for dogs who have food allergies BUT not all lamb and rice foods are any good - some use chicken fat..

so... what brand of food is your dog on?

Join the club... As I Speak (type) my Airedale is doing the same thing.

My guess(es) is:

Allergies
Dry skin
A small bur from his walk yesterday.
A small cut from his walk yesterday
boredom (highly unlikely)
or as my boyfriend says "because he is a dog"

My first guess is the most likely reason...... Trying to figure out what a dog is allergic to is like finding a needle in a hay stack... Start by not feeding him (her) anything other than their regular food for a full two weeks, then a start re-introducing everything else slowing. one thing a time. Remember it might not be what he is eating. it could be the environment.... Yikes then it is near impossible to figure out what is causing the allergy.

I have come to the realization that unless he gets a hot spot I am not going to worry too much.

It could either be allergies to food or possibly the pills he's already taking, or maybe his diet. You might have to take him off all medicine and try one at a time to see if his itching stops or gets worse. Maybe your vet can do allergy testing to see what is causing his problem.
