I'm an atheist because I've realized there are no gods. I was brought up as a Lutheran, but have been an atheist for over 20 years.
Faith is belief without evidence. It is believing something is true, just because you want it to be true (or fear it true). Everybody has faith, but I just try to minimize it. I don't consider it really a virtue.
I have no belief in any gods because there is no real reason to believe there are any. That's not faith, just a lack of being convinced. The more I learn about religion, and I probably know more than the average person, the more I realize that religion is just organized superstition.

I do not personally believe that any religion has a "monopoly" on the truth - there is some good and truth in just about every religious organization out there.
For this reason, I have chosen to be a member of Unity Church ... it is not Unitarian but is often confused with it, due to the name.
Unity Church is Christian-based, but also believes there are many paths to one God. It is more metaphysical/ spiritual and less "religious".
And I am very aware of the fact that religion is a man-made concept, no matter which faith one believes or practices. Even if you are Christian, you must admit that nowhere is it written that Jesus said, "I am beginning a new faith with rules, protocal, and mass or service will be an hour long and you allowed to do this and not allowed to do that, etc." The core concepts are indeed authentic, but much of what we see in churches today are man's interpretations and doctrines inspired by church leaders and not the founding cause?
I was raised Catholic but now feel it has too many man-made rules, which they tend to change every so many years. I abor when some claim their church is the ONLY path to God ... they are not God, who are they to judge and be the supreme and ultimate interpretors of "the truth"?

Catholic at birth, tried many other religions and now I follow none and would I follow one it would be the Catholic faith.
Religion is not as much about god as it is as a system to live by. They do have the sane common goal just presented a different way, so it would be common to return the one that you are used to.
Religion life can be very good if you believe most of the people are living as you are, but when you find out that most of the people in church are their mainly because, to make believe they truly care about and your faith in god, then you find them womanizing, drinking, being gay and just doing all the stuff they tell you not to do, that's why the system is a failure, people will argue its not, but that's my opinion. I believe in God & Jesus and I think he would disapprove of the soceities they have developed, because they hide behind the cross, but in reality they will sell you out to be saved.

I am pentecoastal and the reason for this is cuz in the Bible it talks about praise and worshiping the Lord and lifting hands to do so and that is what Pentecoastals do is raise their hands to praise and worship music. I was baptized Presbyterian and went there when i was younger but then when I got out on my own I changed to First Assembly of God and have been that way for about 4 years now and love it too. I guess what I am trying to say is that I follow God's word closely.

I am a satanist. Having been the third generation of my family trained to perform as a minister of god, I am uniquely prepared among non-christians to operate within the paradigm of christian thought. This allows me to reach people in ways that others cannot. I feel a connection to taoists and practicioners of zen- although their discipline is something I do not care to pursue- and I consider myself a spiritual person. I contest that just as the serpent was willing to sacrifice all love, life, and happiness on earth just to reach the truth of "knowledge" and "good and evil", so too must we break the idols of the church and open the secrets of life to man. Using our "divine power of reason" and our knowledge "stolen" from god, we march forward in understanding beyond what was intended for us. Iconoclasm is only our trademark, however, not our goal. To further the destruction of ignorance, requiring that man rely on himself and not his delusions- that is a superior goal. We have no morality to slow us. I rely on no man or god, yet I understand them well, and use them both.
My religion is not right. No religion is. Since there is no chance at being right, however, I can say that my religion is more pure- because it is more wrong than any. My mind reflects the world like a dark shining orb, removing the light of falsehood, leaving only the many-dimentioned truth of the natural universe.
Secular Humanism, by comparison, is boring! Why walk a path to destruction blindly when we are divinely entitled to walk with our eyes open down a narrow path to enlightenment? The lord is a lamp for no man's foot. The shadow is too deep to penetrate. Only we ourselves can find the way. The church, the bible, all works of men- regardless of their possible origin they are now the domain of the devil: twisted and corrupt. Sin is my trade, spirit my road, and destruction my destiny- as it is yours. Only in death may you find salvation, but even this is not owed you, nor guaranteed. While we yet live, we are all creatures of sin and ignorance. I shall not hide myself from either; they are my most powerful tools. For we have also stolen the mastery of their counterparts- we control good and evil, knowledge and ignorance. We are doomed to die and yet we are gods on earth, the lords of this world. My path does not require that anyone follow me. It requires that each of us lead. There is no place for a sheep among us. The whole of the law shall read "Do as you will."
