i assume this is multi port fi. if check eng light is on have someone read codes ( most any parts store for free) could be any thing associated with fuel management,i.e. MAF(mass air flow), MAP( mass air pressure), THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR,O2.

Sounds like an ignition spark problem (no spark to the spark plugs). Could be an ignition control module like someone already mentioned. It could possibly be the crankshaft position sensor. It's located behind the harmonic balancer at the front of the crankshaft. Crankshaft position sensors are known to cause this kind of problem.

i'm extremely confident youll favor to change eu's, and that i really doubt that they kept the same wiring harness for each sequence, and im not confident yet i imagine the 3800 II has a dogbone motor mount on correct of the motor like the three.a million's and a pair of.8's.. probably superb to purchase a clean motor vehicle in case you cant locate yet another sequence 2 to drop in. good success

Check the codes I beleive that it has an OBD1 (on board diagnostics 1) system you can jumper 2 pins and count the check engine flashes and look up the fault code.

Take you car to Autozone tell them you have a check engine light on and they will read your onboard computer which should shed light on you problem. Good luck

change the fuel filter, sounds like it is entering into a rich state when cold then leans out causing it to back fire,
