Often "atheist extremest" and "liberal "are often of synonymous, so he is both.
He is a Moonbat, who thinks that only the people who agree with him should be free to choose how they live their lives. Everyone else should be forced to live as he does.

Injuring oneself in such a way is masochistic and a dire cry for attention.

You see, if he did not agree with the school district's decision on renaming the holiday, there were other less harmful and more effective measures he could have taken, such as attending school board meetings, writing letters to the editor of the local paper, contacting legislators, forming a community action group.

The dramatic measures he took of course got him attention, but instead of persuading anybody to his cause, he most likely turned people off, got himself labeled as a "mental case" and his message was lost.

Silly man.

At least he's got the balls to aflame himself up and not send other people's children to do it for him.

If Bush had burned himself in protest against WMDs don't you think Saddam will have taken the consequences more seriously?

Niether. He was a man who had self-destructive behavior. Christianity, Atheism, Liberalism and Conservatism all discourage self destruction.

He's just a nutcase. Atheist does NOT equal liberal.

One must question the lucidity of those whom harm themselves.
There are alternative actions one can take to protest against some action.

Just messed up.

I doubt a person who would self-immolate would give much thought to political stance or religion.
