That would depend on the size of the cocker AND the sizes of the dogs in his background. Also the size of your female. Assuming she is under 10 lbs., and assuming the father or many of his ancestors are 25 to 35 lbs., your Dachsie might die while pregnant from a ruptured uterus, and would be at extremely high risk to need a C-section ($500 to $2000 depending on circumstances). If you love the dog, get an emergency spay. If you'd rather have the puppies, let the pregnancy continue and see what happens. Make sure you have money set aside for a C-section, and also make sure you'll be able to be with the pups around the clock for the first 3 weeks, since there is a strong likelihood you'll be the one feeding them every 2 hours....

please try the shelters or the rescues you should be able to find what you want there .if not then and only then would i try a breeder. good luck and god bless and happy holidays.
