Jesus never said that we should be spiteful, so that is not a practicing Christian you are talking about.

Why are non-Christians alway stereotyping and accusing Christians of the very same thing they do? Not all Christians are spiteful and everybody is different.

There can be times that something may be perceived as spiteful because typing alone, does not allow someone to hear the tone of the melody or the laughter that one may have when there is teasing or just in fun going on.

You can have three non-Christians standing together having a conversation and later one will remark that so and so was awfully spiteful as to where the other says, I didn't think so.

Likewise, it can be three Christians standing together and talking and the same thing will happen. One will think someone was spitefull, but the other did not perceive it in that manner.

There are times of course its obvious to everyone that someone is being spiteful, but my goodness, look throughout this site, there are just as many spiteful non-Christians. Christians do not have the monopoly on it. If someone was to count how many spiteful questions/answers came from Christians and how many came from non-Christians, I bet it would equal very close to the same amount.

This Spirituality & Religion site seems so racist between non-Christians and Christians, seems to have a few similarities to what the 50's and the 60's must have been like. Don't jump to any conclusions, I'm not saying which ones are more oppressed than another, I'm just comparing the overall picture.

I've seen where a Christian can describe or talk about something in a gentle, caring manner, yet it will be attacked as being aggressive and hostile, so it all comes from the mind of who is doing the reading. Hostility will not be perceived as hostile.

And more than likely the above paragraph will be attacked because I only made the comparison both ways, wasn't my intention to be a racist, so I'll fix it.

There are times a non-Christian will be coming across in a gentle caring manner and a Christian will perceive it as being hostile.

Hostility is in the eye of the beholder,

sometimes.

Once again, with all my heart I believe you will have to look high and low to find a spiteful Christian, unless it is one who is always spiteful and hateful then they are backsliding and not walking with the Lord. Otherwise, if you find a strong Christian who is spiteful to you, wait a bit, an apology will soon follow.

The bottom line, being Christian does not make us perfect or inhuman, we still have bad days and can snap at someone or do something bad. We make mistakes and the true/strong Christian will own up to it unless, they are still working on some arrogance that has yet to be corrected in their life, then I would say check back later and see how they are doing.

Again the bottom line is, we are human and capable of doing bad stuff, even a minister, no one was or ever will be perfect, except for Jesus. We strive to be like Him each day and we know we will always fall short - all the time, especially me.

Sometimes I'm lazy and sometimes I spend too much money and too often I snap at someone in traffic. I have a wonderful relationship with the businesses that are around my home where I've lived for ten years, especially my pharmacy at Von's. However, to my embarrassment, I've had to go and apologize a couple of times for losing my cool and being inappropriate.

This one time it was the last thing in the world I wanted to do. I did not want to apologize when it was them that had not done what they were suppose to do and it caused me a huge inconvenience, but I was awful in the way I handled it. While looking at the broccoli, I got hit with a ton of guilt, so I went back over to them to apologize, not just because it was the right thing to do, but also to make me feel better! I get selfish too.

It would be nice if we could examine our differences without hatred and anger.

Your misreading thier intentions. It seems to me that whenever someone sides against Christ that person usually will CHOOSE to interpret ALL Christian resoning as spitefull and label the faithfull with numerous insulting descriptions. The Church has had tyranical leadership in past times when Crusaders were authorized to convert by force. These early evangelists did NOT have the support of the average Christian and have caused modern Christians no end of ridicule. The reason Christians keep reminding people of the reality of Hell is because Jesus loves us and nobody wants to see those we love in everlasting torments. This may sound like we're trying to force conversions through fear but we're sincerely only concerned for your eternal well-being. Evelution has been disproved well over 20 times whereas everyone who truely investigates Biblical claims ends up admitting that the book is historical whether they choose to accept it or not. It is hard for you to kick at the Christan faith.

Doesn't matter what group you are in. If you are worshiping with a group that you believe will assist you to getting into Heaven, why would you ever want to except any other way(s)?
All Christians believe their way is the only way and everyone who is not of that sect. will go to hell. The (righteous) is spiteful of others, (righteous)
We are not in different boat paddling for the same shore.
There is only one way the Bible says. Why can't we all be in the same boat? Oh yeahhhhhhhh Im right, your wrong.
See how that goes? Just wish we could all get along.

A "practicing" Christian cannot practice such things as spite. No more than a "practicing" vegetarian can practice eating quarter pounders with cheese.

The operative word is "practicing". And the other operative word is "Christian." It must be remembered that there are countless counterfeit Christians in the world who are Christians in name only.

I think its the simple principle that putting others down, makes one feel better about themselves, after all, if someone else is so "wrong" or "bad", than you must be better. Of course this is the same human tendency that causes playground bullies. True Christians would not be spiteful of others.

Personally, I think anyone who feels the need to put others down, Christian or not, is actually trying to deal with their own low self-esteem. People who are comfortable with who they are and how they live their life are accepting of others' differences.

Some are, others are very charitable and kind.

The division between the good and the bad is not necessarily between Christians and non-Christians, but the dividing line runs right through Christianity itself.

I know that this is true in my own Church.

There are the good people and then there are the cut-throats that hide under the mask of religion.

I am sorry you have found that to be true. There is a bumper sticker out there that says "Christians are not perfect, just forgiven". I have been a christian for over 20 years and I still fight my flesh daily. The human nature comes out in me often and I find myself thinking terrible things about people. I do take it to the next level though, and ask God to forgive me and if I have wronged anyone, I go to them and ask their forgiveness. Christains are told we need to be the light of the earth. Some lights are stronger than others. I pray that you are led to some bright bulbs.

The operative word is practicing Christians. People are human and will fail but as a christian we need to strive to live as close to the instructed word as possible and the greatest commandment is to love one another

I guess they don't think they are being spiteful. They just think they are doing what they supposed to do. They just don't get that there is NO wrong path to God, and Jesus is NOT the only way to heaven, and we ARE NOT all going to hell if we believe in something different.
