well malocclusion or aesthetically unpleasing teeth is not a disease, its just a STATE, a state in which teeth are abnormally placed as compared to normal position..
and whether u need braces for it or not is a question which firstly u should ask yourself...does it look v.bad on u and more importantly does it affect your eating or your teeth functioning,if it does then u definately need ORTHODONTIC treatment..
and if you are really confused go to an ORTHODONTISTS and tell him to check your dentition and give you advise regarding your malocclusion and can it be completely fixed by braces or not...best of luck

No, braces on the bottom won't. If you are younger, your jaw may continue to grow a little and make less of an overbite. To advance the jaw though or pull back the top teeth, you will probably need braces on both arches so rubber bands can be connected between them to do the work or headgear. If you think about it, how would braces on your bottom teeth only get them to move forward to meet your top teeth? bottom braces only could possibly straighten your 2 crooked teeth though.

I have an overbite and the dentist told me that I was very fortunate that no one slapped braces on me. My son inherited the same overbite and the methods are different today. They are stretching his lover jaw out to eliminate the overbite. He has been wearing these dental "things" in several phases for about two years now. Old style dentists pushed in the top to get even with the bottom. Good dentists today stretch out the lower to overcome the overbite. By the way, despite my overbite I was considered handsome by the gals when I was young. Lots of people have overbites. If you do want to get rid of the overbite then go to a good dentist, but you will spend years with stuff in your mouth, screws to tighten, etc., etc.

I had an overbite. Overbites are usually only fixed when you get braces and they fix up your teeth. I have had my braces off and my bottom teeth still do not show when I smile because my lip is long enough to cover it. So dont worry. If you want it fixed, then braces are the way to go. Good Luck

The braces will certainly bring some correction in your overbite. It is not clear how far out your teeth are. Are those to the extent of giving you any functional problem. If not, then you would be better off not to bother about them at all, as even after braces treatment your bottom teeth are not going to start showing up. If you strongly feel about the improvement in the esthetics of your smile that all your front teeth should be seen in your smile, your options are in orthognathic surgery and chin implants that is going to cost loads of money from your pocket. Do not expect any help from insurance. However, you may make internet search for affordable orthognathic jaw surgery treatment options.

Well, it depends. My friend had an overbite and it wasn't that bad so her dentist let it go. If its worst then you either need to get a head gear(special kind of braces for overbit) or you need to get some teeth pulled out then they will put an expander on it then braces. It all depends on what your dentist decides whats best. Like i have and over bite and its medium and i'm getting two teeth pulled out then the expander and the braces.

Well, if the overbite bugs you and you want it fixed, then you should get braces. Contrary to others' beliefs, I have braces and they don't hurt, plus you get used to them pretty fast. But, if the overbite doesn't bother you, then don't bother with getting braces, because they can be annoying. If you want a professional's opinion, then go see an orthodontist and they will tell you if you need braces or not. That is the best bet.

I have a overbite. I have to wear braces, headgear, and a retainer like device called a bite plain. Sorry, but most likely you WILL need braces and headgear. Do you have crowded bottom teeth or upper teeth? If you bite doesn't match up correctly, you will need braces.

Don't worry! Braces don't hurt much! They will be a little sore, but you'll get used to it.

Correcting your overbite isn't going to help you show your bottom teeth. You should have a slight overbite anyway. Don't worry about it though usless it is severe. I love kissing guys with overbites.

You definitely need to have braces put on as soon as possible. You may even need to have a few teeth pulled to make room for your top and bottom teeth to line up properly.
