heating. I stay in bed as much as possible so I dont have to switch it on. I am out working nightshift most nights so I can keep the heating and all the lights off when I am not in the house. In total I have it on for no more than 8 hours in any week. Is there any other ways I can cut back anymore. I am just myself and have to cut back as much as I can. Any suggestions on this would be a great help.

Check that you have the best supplier for your area. You can do this online. Some suppliers are freezing prices for the next couple of years, so do some research. Also, make sure that your house is well insulated and that you switch appliances off rather than leaving them on standby.

I replaced the wall thermostat with one that includes a timer. You can set different temperatures for different times of the day. You need to have the boiler radiator switched permanently on.

Also, turn down radiators in rooms you don't use. Wear a jumper indoors.

Staying in bed longer just to save on heating bills sounds like you have a warped perspective on the meaning of life.

Try going to http://www.uswitch.com to see if you can get it cheaper.

Make sure TV is fully switched off, not just in standby mode when not going to be using it for say over an hour.

Be careful with energy saving lightbulbs in rooms you go in & out of alot, as I recall a guy doing a energy saving review at my grandma's house a few years back said they actually use 10times more energy than a normal bulb for the 1st hour of use

Turn the thermostat on your bolier down by 1 degree, you won't notice the difference, but it saves money. Make sure you switch lights off when you're not in the room.

Turn the television and any computer off completely when not in use- it has been proven this saves about £20 a year.
