It was raining last night is correct. You cant say it is raining last night because you are talking about the past and therefore you have to use the correct verb. The verb"is" is the present and "was" is the past.

Not, in that sentence you are mixing:

Present time: (It is raining), with
With something that happened in the past: (last night)

So, you should use past time for the first part (It was raining):

"IT WAS RAINING LAST NIGHT" or

"LAST NIGHT IT WAS RAINING"

By the way ¿Which is your 1st language? ¿Japanese? ..... If it's so you will understand this better by someone who is fluent in japanese ... I'm sorry I don't know japanese. But I can translate this explanation to spanish or french if that helps :D

Hope that helps!

It's raining last night can be a right sentence because 'S is the short form of Was.
But if you write it is raining last night it will be different,so it is a wrong sentence
However in speaking it can be acceptable

if the rain fell last night it would be proper to say it rained last night or it was raining last night.

If raining last night is a title of something. the title should not change.
For example....
a book titled "Raining Last Night"
the book is only one book so it is singular.
The book is "Raining Last Night".
It is raining last night.

otherwise the plain sentence you gave is incorrect. Is this something you can get 5 dollars for from her? If so, rub it in her face. :P Kiddin' Kiddin', American humor, may not translate.

I don't think this is correct.
You are talking in the past and "is" is in the Present Simple.
I think the correct one would be : "It was raining last night" as you are referring to the Past, so you should use Past.

"Last night" indicates that the rain happened in the past, so the past tense should be used: It WAS raining last night.

It is raining = PRESENT RAIN.

The statement "It is raining last night" should be: "It was raining last night."

See the difference?

Was = LAST NIGHT = IT HAPPENED = IN THE PAST.

It should read, "It was raining last night." Since the action has passed, "is" is not the proper word. "Was" is used as past-tense, or something that already happened.

no.
the correct one is "It was raining last night"
why? bcause "last night" refers to the past, and so the verb must agree with the time of the subject. so, "is" should be"was"
