I was amazed when I saw my female cat which is in heat spray. She is an indoor cat only and not fixed. So If I get her fixed would she stop spraying?

I have both a male and female cat. I got them both as kittens and at the first sign of spray activity (around 7 months), I had them both fixed. Neither of them have sprayed a bit since.
So to answer your question, yes, if you get her fixed she'll stop. Note, it can also be a very unpleasant time for her, so fixing her can significantly reduce stress and other related problems.

Good luck!

They definitely will spray and mark their territory with urine when they are in heat. Most females stop that when spayed, some males may continue that behavior even after neutering.

I have a 13 yr old female who occasionally sprays the fence to let the cat on the other side know where her territory is.

Both female and male cats can spray - doesn't matter whether or not they are fixed. I have a 16 year old female that has sprayed all her life. Spraying marks her territory. She also sprays when whe is distressed.

Yes, females can spray and sometimes they do. They are less likely to do it, and less compulsive about it, than males, and it doesn't stink as badly, but some females do indeed spray.

They do it for the same reasons males do: to mark their territory and to attract mates. Spaying will remove the second reason, and since your kitty does it when she's in heat, that might be her only reason for spraying.

Yes, she will spray to advertise she wants to be bred.
