I think licensees are mugs to open on Xmas Day and agree the profits wont be that great.

I have been to a few pubs xmas day and they are packed (family sent to the pub while mum cooks). Usually the landlord just works. I can't see profit will be that bad.
Sometimes the landlord will just open up as a "thank you" for locals/staff. So profit won't matter that much to them then.

I think it´s a good idea, not everybody has family to go to over the Christmas period, and lot´s of people are better of sitting in the pub with people around them rather being at home on there own, Merry Christmas

I have always thought Xmas morning was a money spinner for the pubs and by closing for rest of day they were happy

in my local they actually make a hige profit on christmas day, they open from 12 until 2, and its the most busy day of the year for them! although what gets me is the fact that people cant just stay away from the pub for one day! i think thats a bit sad!

Your joking my local is only open from 12 noon til 3 and the place is packed solid he must rake it in for them few hours properly takes more in that time than on a mid week day

Your joking mate, my locals are rammed on the day.
I know several places that are opening this year 'cus they can't afford not to, the one Littleton Arms, was fully booked back in August for diners, an thats two seatings.

Some publicans open on Xmas day by way of saying thanks to all their regulars. There are some regulars who may be living alone and it's a chance of company for a while.

Locals will have family members normally not there.They are for
public service not just for profit.(though it helps)
