I give twice a year to the MS Society. My Mother and my Sister have both been striken with MS for over 20 years each. So that is our families favourite charity. We also donate to the Cancer Society. My father is a cancer survivor.

Best wishes to yourself and for a Happy and Healthy New Year..

I got tired of the big ones spending the small amount I could afford on trying to get larger donations out of me, so I just look up a couple of local places that I've heard good things about and send them checks. In the U.S. it was a women's shelter and a soup kitchen. In the UK, it's a homeless group and a group for people with learning disabilities.

This year, we purchased gifts through..
Make a wish foundation
Autism speaks
ASPCA
HSUS
Big City Mountaineers
Historic Jamestowne Museum
Beads for Education (they help educate young women in Kenya)
Avon Breast Cancer Awareness
American Cancer Society
Arbor Day Society

We also gave to our local humane society (we would have liked to adopted an animal this year, but surgery for another pet was necessary, and we can't afford to keep another animal).
Plus, we throw some money in the bucket for the Salvation Army.
My daughter gave the best gift, though...she cut off a foot of her hair for Locks of Love...they make wigs for children who've lost their hair to cancer, alopecia, etc. and can't afford to buy one.

In Lebanon, many stores have charity boxes from some well-known Christian, Muslim and general charity bodies. I put my money into most of them I could find - except for those from the Shi'a Muslim committees since they support Hizballah and Iran.

And in my home country, Nigeria, it's hard to find some varieties. However, I frequently donate to moneyboxes belonging to a well-known Christian orphanage.

Well...........I thought I was doing the right thing and giving to charity through my wife for the last eight years. She told me that through her work they made charitable donations to needy families in the area. I make good money so I would give her about five hundred bucks to this cause at Christmas. Turns out the other day I found out that she was using this money to buy this guy she works with Christmas presents! Apparently she has been sleeping with him for years too!
How's that for charity!!
