With balck hair, it could be risky. Don't use anythinfg more than 5 shades lighter than your natural hair color. Dark brown might look good. Good luck!

Depends how you want to look. Personally I think black hair is beautiful without artificial dyes.
But if you really want to dye it...
My friend is a rock chick and she has long straight black hair with red/purple streaks at the front. She looks great. She also has light brown skin.
You could try blonde, but I don't think it would suit you.
Brown streaks or highlights would be subtle and would probably suit you quite well.
Midnight Blue streaks/highlights would also be subtle but would probably be trendier.

in my view, i could decide for something particularly funky, like some vivid purple highlights. If that may no longer possibly your sort however, attempt in straightforward terms a shade lighter than your organic hair shade, like chestnut brown, no longer something cheesy like caramel, because of the fact organic finding highlights will make you look warmer. additionally, something cheesy finding like blond could crush your hair, because of the fact this is textured. So perhaps purple does no longer be the terrific theory, considering which you have wavy hair. i in my view think of you ought to attempt something organic. pass on your salon, and tell them you like organic finding highlights, they are going to show you how to come across the terrific shade for you, meaning do no longer attempt to grant your self highlights at residing house, this is rather complicated, and could no longer finally end up precise. good good fortune!

DON'T DO IT YOURSELF!!! GO TO A PROFESSIONAL!
you ever see people with that funky copper orange hair with black roots growing in? that's because they colored/highlighted at home! i have natural very dark brown hair - and at one time tried several products - and i just couldn't get it any remote shade of blonde without many hours of processing and damaging my hair. then, i got wise and invested the money to have my stylist lighten my hair. and a professional can also lighten your eyebrows. also, if you don't want to lighten your eyebrows, a good trick is to pluck them a little thinner than what you have and use eyeshadow (like gold or nude) to powder them with, they appear a little lighter for a few hours of the day.

Do you still whant to keep your hair color?
If so, at intense black could work as highlight a light black or grey colour.
If you don't wanna keep your balck color for your hair, make it as the colour of you eyebrows! Light brown is a great color for hair! My boyfriend has this colour (naturaly), and he looks great!
Hope it helps you!

I'm not sure if you are female or male, but if you are female: Highlight with dark red or a auburn colour. In the summer go with lighter colours.
If you are a guy, no need to highlight.
