Distillation is the process where a mixture is separated into separate chemicals on the basis of their molecular weight. Oil, for example, would go into a distillation tower to be separated into (from lightest to heaviest) low molecular weight gases, kerosene, gasoline, engine-grade oil, road-grade oil, and tar.
This happens in a Distillation Tower at the chemical plant.

A distiillation tower is used to separate the various components of crude oil. The principal is that the different components will boil and condense at different temperatures. For example, there are light ends or aromatic compounds that will come out of the oil at room temperature. However, if heated, they come out a little faster. These products are useful for making plastics, pharmaceutical, fertilizers and other chemicals. Next comes the categroy known as distaillates including gasoline, aviation fuel, jet fuel, kerosene, diesel fuel, and #2 home heating oil. These are separated by heating and rising through the tower. As they rise through the tower, they begin to condense and collect on trays which are piped to storage tanks. This is similar for a whiskey distillary where fermented liquids are heated and the alcohol boils at a relatviely low temperature and then allowed to condense and collect for human consumption. In this case the alcohol is seprated and purified from all the other ingredients in the mix.

A distillation tower is a vertical cylinder in which liquid is vaporized. As the vapor rises into the tower, it is gradually cooled. Different fractions recondense at different heights.
It is primarily used in the petroleum industry to seperate the components of crude oil.

I've never heard Distillation Tower, but I've heard of Distilleries or stills.
A still, heats a liquid to gas, then runs it through cool tubing to condense it back to liquid again. This removes impurities from and concentrates the elements with lower boiling points. Stills are used to make alcohol, in chemistry and to purify water.
