Wow....sounds like my parents, reincarnated. My 3 kids did not have a close relationship with my parents either...it is their loss. Try visiting a nursing home/ senior center with your child....your child could have more "grandparents" than can can be imagined.

If this is your son's first Christmas then he must be less than a year old. How much will HE actually remember of his "first" Christmas?

If your parents missed the occasion because one of them was not feeling well, then they probably did you a favor. How would you like your son to get sick because you wanted your parents there?

It is much more important for them to be there when your son can remember the occasion. It seems to me that this is all about YOU and what YOU want.

If this is part of a larger problem, then you need to work on a lot more than Christmas.

Take a lot of pictures to share with your parents and tell them you wish they could have been there to share it with you. This is not the time to get angry.

If it's his first, he isn't going to know if they're around or not. The problem is, you're unhappy with it because you feel your son should be the most important person in the world to everyone. Which, while sweet, isn't the reality.

Look at it this way, you get to enjoy the FIRST with your son, and don't have to deal with the hassle of having them over. By the time you go through the "whole family..hers...mine..ours" a few years, you'll wonder why you ever invited everyone over in the first place.

They could be really ill...have the flu, for example, and then you'd wish they hadn't come over if you have a baby with the flu while you have it.

Deep breath...it isn't about you. Tell them you're sorry they aren't feeling well, and hope they're better soon...promise to send pictures.

Shame on you. You should be more concerned about your parent's health. They are not getting any younger and I bet it was a lot more than a simple stomach ache if it kept them away from such and event. You will remember this when one or both of them dies and you will want to take it back but you won't be able to. You need to apologize to your parents and wish them good health and send them lots of pictures. You need to learn to be a better child so that you can set a good example. How would you feel if your child grew up to have your disrespectful attitude towards you?

You're being too childish. So they don't wanna be with you this Christmas, and they gave a bad excuse, so what? Maybe they just want to spend a quiet Christmas alone. Their excuse may be lame, but I think you should get the idea that they want to be away. And what if it's true of what they said? Maybe they had food poisoning? Did you even ask if they're alright before getting angry? Aren't you being a little too inconsiderate?

Oh come on what kind of a "child" are you?
You can take pixs and sent to your folks.
The kid certainly isn't going to care if the grandparents are there on not. If your folks are seriously sick and you have been acting this way your going to feel like 2 cents!

1. Baby will never know the difference.

2. I'll bet it was more than a stomach ache; I'll bet it was a peptic ulcer.

3. No matter what the ads say, it's not all about you.

Maybe it's more than a stomach ache and they don't know yet. Have a little respect.

well lets see, who had the stomack ache, was it the grandparents if so maybe they did not want to give what is ailing them to the grandchild, so some consideration
