I just recently turned 16 in November, and my boyfriend turned 18 just on the 21st of December. His mother knows we are dating, and so does my mother, they both said it's ok. But what I'm worried about is the law. Can someone help me? I'd appreciate it. =]

It depends on where you live. Like the state sometimes you have to be 16-18

How many more times is this stupid question going to come up without the information we need.

Information such as - legal age for sex where you live.

There is nothing at all wrong, ANYWHERE, about a 16 yr old & an 18 yr old dating.

HOWEVER

There are places where it would be illegal for them to have sex.

Only you know the age limits where you live so only you can answer that part of it.

AND ANYONE WHO GIVES YOU A YES OR NO ANSWER ON THIS IS TALKING RUBBISH AS THEY DON'T KNOW THE LAWS WHERE YOU LIVE EITHER.

EDIT:

WHAT IS IT WITH THE MAJORITY OF POSTERS ON HERE - ALMOST ALL ANSWERS GIVEN ARE NO USE AT ALL AS YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE THE ASKER LIVES

IF INTHE UK THEY CAN SCREW AWAY TO THEIR HEARTS CONTENT

IN CERTAIN AMERICAN STATES THEY CAN DO THE SAME

BUT IN SOME STATES THEY CAN'T

SO WHY GIVE YES/NO ANSWERS WHEN YOU HAVE NO IDEA OF THE LAWS IN FORCE IN THE AREA THEY ARE REFERRING TO

A 10 year old can "date" a 50 year old. The problem with the law comes in when they are having sexual relations. The law is 18 can not mess with under 18.

what state do you live in? It is probably legal to to date, but if you are in a sexual relationship, just check the laws for your state to make sure your relationship is not considered statutory rape or contributing to the delinquency of a minor. It is good that your parents know and are okay about it, since guys usually get in trouble when they are reported by the girl's parents.

NOT ILLEGAL AND NOTHING ABNORMAL ABOUT A TWO YEAR AGE DIFFERENCE!! YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!! ALOT OF IGNORANCE OUT THERE WITH PEOPLES FALSE BELIEFS! AGE OF CONSENT IS 16 IN YOUR STATE PERIOD! That means you can consent to sex even if your parents object etc. No state will interfere with high school students of this age range dating etc.

People that say it's legal are wrong. It depends on your state. If it's illegal he can even have more charges brought against him if you cross state lines for a visit or trip.

Just dating isn't against the law. If you two were to engage in sexual activity though, that would technically be statutory rape on his part. If someone says something, he might get in a lot of trouble, even if it's consentual.

If both parents consent, it's "ok". If you have sex, it's rape.

Not sure about your local laws, but some places allow the parents of both children (if the older has been accused of rape) to sign a document saying they approve. Then it would be legal.
