Any color can be a good neutral color. A neutral color can be any color that you use as a base to tie in different rooms. So you could use dark green, rose, orange, yellow. Whatever you want. The other thing that is great is that you can use the neutral color as a wall color in one room and on accent peices in another room to help pull them together and use a complimentary color for the wall color on the other room. Go to a fabric store and find a peice of fabric that just pulls at you and use the colors from there. If the colors are being used together in fabric, it's a given that they will go together what ever you do.
