It makes me drowsy while most people drink it to stay awake. How come?

Your body probably process the caffeine faster than others.

Caffeine "speeds up" your body (thus you feel more awake) but as soon as it runs out, your body slows down, and slows down even more because it's tired from the "workout" you got from the caffeine.

thisisnov gave a great answer..and s/he is very correct. The "rush" people get from the caffeine creates the "speeding up" of body function..as soon as the caffeine wears off....the body says "HEY...i want another shot of THAT"...and so you have another coffee...the endless cycle begins...
but in YOUR case...it's too fast..so do what I did over 20 years ago...I quit drinking coffee the day after I quit smoking..no more sore tummy..and I'm not as grouchy from too much caffeine either...
enjoy !!!

Coffee has caffine in it. Sometimes caffine will have a reverse effect on some people. It does me sometimes. Most times it wakes me up but sometimes it will make me sleepier.

coffee does not make me sleepy at all, maybe you just have to get used to the extra caffine that is in coffee

I don't have an answer to this one exactly, but tea has the same effect on me. (I drink massive amounts and I think my tolerance for caffeine is nearly infinite now.)

it has caffeine. Maybe your body just has a weird reaction with caffeine, causing you to be tired while most people get really hyper!

Me too! It has never worked for me. Then it upsets my stomach.
