Which do you prefer as a pet? I'm a mutt guy. The only purebred I'd get is a rescue from the pound.

I have personally had both and like them both. These days we only have purebreds, but I'm sure there will be a mix in our home some time again down the line.

If you mean weather the dog has papers or not, I could care less. And even though I would never get a dog out of the pound, I know several people who have and have had luck in turning out some good detection dogs. And yes, the dogs that are "pedigreed" cost money, ridiculous ammounts some times, but, if you need that dog, you will pay that money. And by pedigree, I do not mean registered through the AKC. The best dogs I have ever owned were imported from Europe out of bloodlines that consistently produced the type of dogs they were supposed to, and many of them have never been papered.

I prefer mutts.
Mutts do not have the health or genetic problems which so many breeds have.
Mutts will not be stolen from you. Mutts are generally easier to train.
I currently have 8 mutts, and 4 of them were rescued.

As a guy who has had so many dogs in his life its a difficult one to call Having bred show dogs for a number of years and also the occassional heinz 57 there isnt any real difference.A good dog is dependent on many factors such as breeding but the most important are socialistic skills the environment ands its food when its a puppy .You will get what you deserve from the amount of work you put in when you dog is a puppy. Then its also what are your expectations are when it comes dwon to your dog looks character long life, heathly etc I did notice one thing though throughout all the litters we breed is that the ones that leave the nest ie the home to move in with new owners never seemed to have matured as well as the ones that stayed
if theres one thing I could say is just love them as they will generally and unconditionally love you back twice as much
thanks

I've had both. When my ex-husband and I were married, we had a mutt adopted from the pound. It was one of the best dogs I've ever had - she was very smart, easy to train, excellent watch dog, but yet good with kids. In fact, my ex still has her. Now that I have re-married, my present husband and I have 2 Siberian Huskies, both rescue dogs. We got one as a stray (we put an ad in the paper when we found her, but no one claimed her so we decided to keep her) and the other one we adopted from the pound. Both of our dogs are excellent dogs, and in spite of them both being stubborn by nature, they were fairly easy to train. They are excellent with people of all ages, and they both serve as therapy dogs for the elderly and terminally ill children. Can't say they are very good as watch dogs, though - they are too friendly and think everyone is their friend.

P.S. Does anyone else think that "Tyke" has some anger management issues?

I don't think it matters on the type of dog, but the dog itself. I'm sure a dog that you adopt at the pound to close to nothing is just as good as one you pay 1500 for. Plus some mutts are so ugly they're cute.

The term "genetic variety" quite only potential which you're out breeding as adversarial to inbreeding. A canines (any canines) would be much less possibly to inherit genetic circumstances in case you breed it to a member outdoors of that's on the spot 'family individuals' than in case you do. it quite is authentic of purebreds, mutts, regardless of. in case you have a Border Collie Lab blend and you breed it to that's mom, the domestic canines because of the fact of that muddle could have a miles extra beneficial possibility of arising well being issues because of the fact that's an analogous genetic line with each and each of an analogous issues. in case you breed a Golden to a diverse Golden of no relation, you would be much less possibly to get domestic canines that have hundreds of well being issues than in case you had bred Goldens that have been heavily correct. the entire mutt vs purebred element is a load of bull. in case you prefer a mutt, rescue a mutt from a shield. in case you prefer a purebred that has a predictable temperament and well being, then seem for somebody who does genetic checking out to substantiate they're breeding healthful canines. Goldendoodles will often be very risky because of the fact they're bred by utilising very irresponsible people who take shortcuts to make as lots earnings as they are able to. ETA: Gizmo's mom and dad then how come "Puggles" nonetheless have not have been given any breed common. and how come "Labradoodles" which confident, have been initially bred to be reliable scientific care canines for persons with hypersensitive reactions have been shown to no longer be reliable for basically that reason! they are not even on the fringe of being hypoallergenic. all the folk who're breeding those canines jointly are breeding indiscriminantly. They see a Golden, they see a Poodle and BAM they get Goldendoodles. they do no longer evaluate the dam and sire to substantiate they're getting high quality domestic canines, they're only breeding to make money.
