don't worry. It will be fine. Just have a look at it now. Inside the cavity (put your hand inside to feel) it will still be very cold. Probably still have ice crystals inside it but I always think they tell you too long to defrost a turkey!

Leave it in the fridge overnight and then tomorrow bring it out. This will make sure that last bits if ice are gone and will also bring to room temp before cooking.

Dont panic about cooking dinner. It really is simple.

Read some of the other questions about cooking your turkey - there is loads of good advice out there, and relax!

stick your hand inside if its still frozen in there get it back out of the fridge and leave it to defrost at room temp, it will be fine. you just dont want to cook it when it is still frozen or you'll end up with the inside uncooked. you still have plenty of time for it to defrost. when it is completly defrosted you can keep it in the fridge untill you need it to go in the oven, as for cooking a little tip i always leave everything in the oven for 15mins extra than the packet says just to be on the safe side, and you'll know if its cooked inside if you tip it up and the juices inside are bloody. they say it should be clear juices but it always looks yellowy oily to me! happ xmas

Poultry should always be defrosted in the refrigerator - never leave it out on a counter top. You haven't said how big it is, but 42 hours in the fridge sounds about right.

It would be best to fill the sink with cold water, take the wrapping off and immerse it in the water. Change the water every hour or so until it is fully defrosted. Then put it back in the refrigerator.

Reincarnation of a turkey left out, you say it was getting warmer, if it started growing feathers and gobbling then you would have had trouble, but no, you could have left out for the rest of the time to defrost at room tempature, until ready to cook.

You should always defrost your turkey in the fridge. You should never leave it out. It is defrosted when it becomes completely pliable.

Should be fine in the fridge. Although the outside felt warm, the inside is still frozen, so it will need the 42 hrs.

It is better to keep poultry in the refridge to defrost. If not using this method then it should be covered with cold water with the water being changed every hour.

turkey should be thawed IN THE FRIDGE!!
If you left it out for 24 hrs without refrigeration, you have allowed bacteria to grow that can be dangerous to your health.
I would not cook or serve it to anyone.
Throw it out!
