I have a sore arm, with a local raised reaction that is tender and hot to touch. With ever motion I make, it effects the injection site. It was an intra-muscular shot. The reaction is larger then a silver dollar. I also have cold like symptoms including a swollen lymph node, and a cold sore all on my left side. Is this a normal reaction? I can't just stop using my left arm, are there any suggestions on how to treat the soreness?

Tetanus shots are very sore, The moor you use it the less sore it will be. Now for the other stuff, Anti-Inflammatory for the swelling and a Ice pack on the area will help as well. You did not say if it Itched or not which it can, Benadryl if that happens. Just keep moving it and in a few days should clear up. Is a normal thing with tetanus shots see it all the time.

I did the same thing with my last tetanus shot - it should go away within a few days. For the soreness, I stretched it out a lot and took very hot showers. It didn't get rid of the pain entirely, but it helped.

That reaction is normal. Instead of very hot showers you could put warm damp wash cloths on the area for about 10 minutes a day three times a day. Some Tylenol will also help.

Report it to the doctor /nurse who gave you the shot. It is normal to have some reaction but yours sounds a little worrisome.
