The navel, also called a belly button or umbilicus, is a scar on the abdomen, caused when the umbilical cord is removed from a newborn baby.

the reason for a belly botton is that when you are born, you have a cord coming out (this is where you would of been feed and get all vital nutriants from your mother). this is then cut when you are born and will fall of after a couple of days and then you are left with a belly button.

Doesn't do anything once youare born, but while in the womb it is where the placenta is attached to the baby so it can get the nutrients and oxygen it need for life.

It's not really a belly button. It's a "Fluff Mine" all the fluff in the world originates from our belly buttons!!! have you ever checked yours & not found fluff?
I was always told that if you unscrew it your bum will fall off!!!!!

it is where the umbilical cord was attached, which is what gave us our nutrients in the womb. This is grose, but my Grandpa told me it was a place to put the salt for dunking celery while in the recliner.

It's where you were attached to your Mum in the womb. It's where you got nutrients from to grow in the early stages of your development.
