You should be able to update XP home to Pro as long as the CD you have is a full CD and not one of the OEM ones.
You may be better to back up all your data to DVD then reinstall using XP pro. Ths would also put everything back to a fresh state

Better let a technician do that for you. It's what they say business. They'd rather not tell you how to install the CD because they want the money for themselves. They are just giving you a hard time, so you'll come back. It always works, and many people fall for it.

yeah that should work, but you may have to wipe your drive first, make sure you backup all your data. With windows running, insert the SP2 disk. There should be an "Upgrade" option, but it is probably better to wipe and start again. If you bought the PC, they may refuse to work on it, as you have reinstalled windows..
they did that to me :( but i dont care, PC World suck :o
