A couple years ago, when I was still in a long-term relationship, an old flame contacted me (we had a casual but steamy relationship long ago). Her bf had left the country and she seemed lonely. She said that my now-ex-gf was 'lucky to have me' and that I was a 'really nice guy'. I didn't pursue her and we haven't talked since, but recently I became single and I started to miss her. I called her old number but she's moved. Now I can only get a hold of her through her alma mater's alumni. I'm thinking of sending her a short platonic message to check out her situation, though she's probably in a serious relationship or married now. I usually try not to contact girls from the past but this one can drive me insane with passion and desire that I don't get with most girls. Maybe I just need to hear that she's moved on and is happy in life. Would you do nothing and just forget about her if you were me?

I think the best solution to your problem is to try to make contact with her. Being lonely has made you vulnerable in a way and will make you hold on to what you had that was best in your previous engagements. Maybe it was suppose to happen that way so you find her and she maybe felt the same way for you. If not, at least then you can move on and try to start something with someone new. Dont hang on to the what ifs. Just do what you can to find out what is. Keep in mind of what went wrong with your old flame and try not to repeat the same mistakes.

I understand how you feel, you get to a point wondering if they still have feelings for you. I loved someone for a long time. Sometimes you wonder if there is a place in their hearts even one little speck for you.

I chickened out one time, I did not have the nerve to phone this one guy back. I believe that he was looking for an exuse to call me. To me I wonder if we do not deal with our infatuations they come back to haunt us in the future. That does not even stop me from wondering about him today.

How are you going to reach her is the problem? Don't assume things, I think that her relationship might have been in trouble to begin with. A man or women sometimes does not run around without problems in a relationship. It would take lots of guts for a women to cheat is what I would think.

Chances are this so called girl can be anywhere around in the world. Why don't you get your so called female friends to do you a favor and post a notice out for her in the internet?? Even in ask Jeeves? See if anyone knows her on the internet? Looking for a long lost buddy type of thing lived in __________ in 200_.

What was her last name? I would be phoning directories all over the city. Did you check directory assistance?

Did you ever watch that movie "There is something about Mary?",
hire a private investigator to find her. It is a hilarious comedy.

I think contact. It will settle questions and you can begin new if she isnt single. At least your heart will be settled. If she isnt then ask her to chill with you.

you need to find out what her situation is first. if she's happy the way she is then you need to leave her alone. but if she is willing to 'get back together' then you can do whatever you want.
