Thankyou all for your advice ( except caramella, uncalled for!) as it happens gr8 and others were right, its a case of watching and waiting but vet thinks that he will be fine, its a habit of labs and most pass it through, however if he begins to vomit i need to take him in! so fingers crossed he will be fine! thanks everyone and happy xmas x

Well done. At least you have done the best for your dog and you can relax for the holiday. I saw most of the answers and the one you have singled out. You should have given her a thumbs down. Watch for the one before mine. He is a virus carrier.
Happy Christmas.

Been reading your saga w/ your baby dog, 'cuz mine (not a puppy) ate some fudge tonight (& hopefully threw it all back up - it sure was a lot of puke) & I asked a question about what I should do & someone who answered freaked out that I should have called the vet instead of waiting to see how he acts & asking the good (mostly, except for our "friend" Carmella) people here @ Y!A for their suggestions.
So I'm just writing to say I'm glad that the vet said it should all work out in the end for your puppy, (pun intended)! Fingers are crossed 4U guys!

The problem with this, is he could get a partial obstruction, that could cause some loose stool and infrequent vomitting. I would probably take him in. They might be able to get the sock out with an endoscopy before you end up needing abdominal sugery on him.

Fingers crossed he'll be fine. Theres just one thing I'd add - if you ever see anything hanging out the back end of your pet, never pull! You can damage their intestines. Just let nature take its course. Nylon threads can cause a lot of damage and cut their insides if they are pulled.
Best of luck!
