I was at my in-laws last night, and they were talking about the show The Office and how much they like it...i laughed and said that my husband and i watched it for a few minutes and he told me to turn it off before we get stupider...did i offend them?

Thats actually one of the few shows on that my husband and I will watch, Now I am offended!
No, Just kidding. But yes, that could really hurt feelings. I would have simply said "Yes, I saw a few minutes of it but it didn't thrill me". Everyone has different tastes in television. I know very intelligent people that still watch wrestling. What do I say to that?

Personally I think you should not feel terrible about your comment, it just came out. How did your in laws react, did they raise their eyebrows, laugh and shrug it off? If they know who their son is married to and they love you as their own daughter it won't matter to them. If things are tense I still would not apologise or think you were being disrespectful because we are all entitled to an opinion. maybe buy them some chocolates next time you see them. Sugar helps it all go down :)
Best of luck and God Bless

meh, in-laws are naturally out to get you, just try not to slip up, and there is nothing you can do when you do. and it sounds like you may have offended them a bit, but doesnt sound too serious

If they know you are strong opinionated person they may just except it. If they treat you very cold for awhile then you will know they are offended.

That's funny!...if that offends them then they need to get tougher skin.

Sounds, to me, like you already got "stupider".

Not as offensive when I told my mother-in-law her turkey sucked and that the mashed potatoes tasted instant.
