i have this problem where i feel really bad rejecting guys, as a result, I unpurposely end up leading them on.
What do you do if a guy asks for your phoen number, i usually say "i havea bf", but i get the usual response " we can be friends." is it too rude to just say "i dont like you!"

Actually, at the level you're trying to reject people (where you're not interested in even trying to be friends) I think you need to just get over the guilt. There's no nice way to say "I think so little of you I don't want to waste my time."
Hallmark doesn't make a card for that.
If this is a regular problem for you though, I think you need to look at what you're doing. It's one thing to "accidentally" give someone the wrong impression, but the fifth or sixth time you have to consider the possibility that you're contributing to the issue.

How about, I don't have a phone... Or
Say.. "I know you just met me and you now THINK you like me.. but in fact you don't know me and since I do know me.. I know that when you know me we won't get along so to save you the trouble of finding out later that we don't like each other let's just sit here and enjoy the day/night and respect that we shared a nice moment and didn't ruin anything at all.. let's just have an honest moment."
Hopefully he will think your a nutter and run away.
I don't believe men and women should be friends... unless you want to ask my parents to marry me :D

There is no such thing as nice rejection. Don't tell a guy you don't like him that's mean. The best way for me is the truth. If your not interested say your not and walk away. All rejection hurts. But being lead on hurts worse.

Just be real with them..just say "i'm sorry, i appreciate your attraction, but i don't feel you like that" If they persist then you have every right to dismiss them with a foot to the *ss..but that's like most sincere way i can think to tell them, and as a true man and gentleman would be like...aight cool see ya.
I'd rather have women do that then the latter...i've had some run away from me (and i was dumb enough to think they were just walking fast.), i've had them lie, and it was funny cause i'd catch them on their lies and then get cussed out cause i made them look stupid....i.e. "i'm married" "so you don't wear you engagement ring?" "$#*#$*&*&#*". Then i've had some like you who lead me on....that just causes more problems because you're faking it....nothing worse than a person ACTING like they like you...and that's a few.
All that when all they had to say was straight up..i'm not feelin you...sorry.
That's what I tell most women who i'm not attracted to..i tell them i'm sorry but i'm not lookin for a relationship, or i'm sorry i'm not feelin you like that..but thank you for showing interest....I keep it real. Some take it hard some don't...you can't empathize with them and decide to lead them on out of sympathy..that in essence is actually worse than giving them the truth...

Coming from a guy I think the best thing to say is that you're not interested or that you have too much going on right now for a relationship even if it is just friends.

I guess it is best to just say " I am not interested right now ". You can say it in a matter of fact way, it doesn't have to be a sneer. It is hard to reject guys without hurting their feelings because they have such tender egos. You have a right to your space and a right to decline their advances.

The worst thing you can do is lead the guy on. If you don't tell them straight up you end up getting their hopes up and then they get hurt more in the end.

Tell them you have enough friends or you're not friends with guys. The fake phone number always works too.

Tell them to give you their number and you'll call when you find time. I always say I'm not a phone person and hate to hear it ringing.
