Do u think the world will come to an end in the year 2012 coinciding with the Mayan's end of their calendar?

I've seen some pretty interesting theories about this year in Wikipedia. I'm just wondering what the community thinks of this. Supposedly something is supposed to happen in or around December 21, 2012.

The world will not come to an end in 2012.

the Mayans discovered that the solar system goes through very long cycles where the solar system does above and below the plane of the milky way galaxy. Much like the old fashioned biorythm charts.

the year 2012 just means it will be an end of one of those cycles that last approximately 11,500 years.

2012 just means we will be level with the plane of the milky way galaxy and we will start another 11.500 year cycle.

The Mayan calendar isn't ending. The 12th Baktun is ending. It's like when we went from 1999 to 2000 (except that a Baktun is 396 years long). On 12-21-2012, the 13th Baktun begins. The calendar can go up to 20 Baktuns, and then whatever's beyond that (never heard a name for it) --it's like an odometer except new columns can always be added to the left.
As far as the world ending goes, on that same date (12-21-2012) there is a grand astronomical alignment between the sun and the Milky Way at dawn which to the Maya signified the rebirth of the sun. Birth, not death.

A lot of people feel that the end won't come in their lifetime, but I think those are the people who will get the Greatest shock of their life,but as for the date, or the year you mentioned 2012, well nobody really knows the time, but it has to come in somebody's life time, and it could really come anytime soon, sooner than2012, or later, whatever time it comes it will not be guessed by anyone even Jesus didn't know when exactly, it would come, but he did tell his desciples about the things that would be going on in the end times and these things that are part of an collective sign that would mark his presenceit is all hapening now in our time.

The world has to end sometime, but this is not it. There is a simple logic to this: no man knows the day or the hour of the end of the world. Every attempt to pinpoint it has proved to be an embarrassment. As soon as you decide on a date, you effectively prevent it. This is why it would be wise if more people lived each day like their last.
