The word for "sorcery" used in this verse is the ancient Greek word "pharmakia", which means, “to prepare drugs.” The lure of commercial Babylon is like a drug addiction, fed by deceptive advertising. Kind of like us here in the U.S., now that I think about it.

It sounds like a good movie in the making, but it's what I see as ending thanks to God.

After reviewing this verse and its context, it seems to be part of a curse against symbolic Babylon. The word "sorceries" probably refers to the rise of spiritualism and the occult in the mainstream media (eg. Harry Potter and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), or possibly miracles produced by demons in the end times to convince the world to worship the devil, who will be disguised as Christ. Now I probably sound like a nut, but devils can do miracles, too (they actually used to be angels).
