I have naturally black asian hair.
I want to change the color to blue, with some red tips.
I'm worried that it might just tint my hair, but I don't want to bleach it before dyeing it.
Recommend any brands? Tips?

I'll try to bleach..but can I go back to my natural hair color?

Sorry but tint is all you are getting if you don't want to bleach. I have dark hair too. I tried.

Goto a Sally's Hair Supply store. Almost all of those stores are staffed by hair experts. And they carry the professional grade products. Just remember to be sure the person you're talking to is a pro. Sometimes you do run into a cashier who is just a cashier. Also look for Manic Panick or Hot Topic (? not sure about that second name). I usually found these in grunge stores. In Atlanta GA the best choice would be Junkman's Daughter in Little Five Points. This is not a chain store so I'm not sure what would be available in your area.

You will need to apply some type of hydrogen peroxide since you have black hair. It maly be possible to find a product that is blue that is a one step process if you go to Sally Beauty Supply. There are also one step hair colors for black women that are in a blue-black shade which are lovely.
It may be that it has to be a two step process for you, which means you need a professional colorist and not just a regular hair stylist.

Asians are the only culture that have actual "black"hair or so my 7th grade teacher told me, it will be impossible to go blue without bleach.

I know you said you werent rich enough but i would really really recommend you go to a professional i dont want to you screw up your beautiful hair!
