If some anonymus caller threatens and we know only the phone number; then how do we find out his details?

The identity of the owner of a telephone number and his address is always available with the telephone company/department.You can tell them the facts and ask for help.They may or may not tell.If they don't tell, you can go to the police and lodge a complaint about being threatened on the phone.The police can always find the details from the telephone deptt on the basis of your complaint.

Here's one way that I've used: Type the phone number in to Google in this format: (xxx) XXX-XXXX
You may be surprised to find that the caller and sometimes their address show up in the search results. Give it a try.
