i'm trying to install 6 by 9 speakers in my ford ranger extended cab
right below the side windows in the rear of the cab.the truck is an
1989.

Red--ALMOST Has the right answer. if you follow his way exact you will end up having ahole that is the same size as the speaker and it won't have anything to secure to. Do the same thing he mentioned but once you are done draw inside of this template to locate where you need to cut so that you have a lip for the speaker to secure to.

if you have the speakers, turn them face down on a piece of paper and trace the outline add the holes for mounting scrows and cut it out...
wow glorie be........... a template and you did not need to go online (execpt for reading this)
you could pull the panel off and trace it on the inside as well and save the paper or a tree........
