Short version... His friend who he likes to play online games with (WOW if you know of it) Has 7 year old and a 3 yr old and a 1yr old. He tells my husband the other day that he has his 7yr old on an Eight hour cleaning shift. Because She decided to go for a walk with the 3yr old and they were picked up by the police. While he was playing the online game the mom called the father who was watching the children and asked where they were he said that they were out side playing ,and she sd No! they are at the police station you need to go get them. He punishes the children for this! I think he is a shitty parent and he should be punished for not watching them better. My husband agrees with him and thinks that the child knew better and did it anyway and that the punishment is fitting. What do you think?

The 7 year old is old enough to know better. She should have told the father she was leaving or asked permission. And under normal circumstances should be punished. But, in this case I suspect the father is such a crappy parent that the kid did not fully realize this. So the punishment is unfair.

The father is the one who really should be punished. Even if the kids were properly raised (which I doubt) he should have been keeping an oversight. A seven and three year old can not be expected to always follow rules or do the right thing.

That's messed up, I think the father should get in trouble for neglect. A seven yr old little girl sometimes doesn't know, or doesn't think of things like that, UNLIKE what a GROWN man should know, espically having three kids. I DO agree IF the child knew better (but keep in mind she is seven not seventeen) and intentially did it she should be punished but I don't get what a eigh hour cleaning shift has to do with anything. If I was with the mom I'd make him go to work, I'd stay home or put the kids in daycare. I think your husband is missing it from the NEGLECTIVE parent point of view, or he is just taking his (guy) friends side.

I totally agree with you something more dangerous could have happen to those kids they could have been hit by a car pick up by a stranger or even worst they could have been murdered and poor children for just being children that father needs to be punished because unlike the children he know right from wrong and he need to leave those games alone and grow up and if he is still a child at heart he need to put the control down and go play with his children

Your right he is a shi*** parent, however his daughter still did the crime and needs to be punished. She is 8 years old and decided to break a major rule. One that threatened her and her younger sibling's life (going for a walk alone). In our home she would have been given a good spanking.

I know your frustrated by a dad acting like a a$$hole, and your right, I totally agree with you, he should be in the dog house for a while, lol. However that doesn't change their daughters needs. What she did can't go un-punished. I hope the fact that the police got involved is enough to scare some sense into him.

Good Luck

I'd be furious if my husband didn't notice a 7r old and 3 yr walked outside and were at the police station. He didn't even notice until they called him! Where was the 1 yr old! And what is an 8 hr cleaning shift?

If my husband did that - and defended the fact that he neglected those kids - and had the nerve to punish them for it - ohhhhh, I'd be furious.

Seven year olds do not know better. If you're the parent, you should be supervising the kids... not be playing online games. That's just irresponisible... and he's blaming the kid! What kind of father is that???? Scapegoating!

Even if the 7 yr old did know better, what was the father doing? He wasn't WATCHING them when he was supposed to. How is a kid supposed to be taking care of an infant and toddler? That doesn't make sense.

He was playing video games and the kids wandered away and he punished them? No thats not right!!!! Granted the 7 year old should have known better but shes 7 and not yet a grown girl so she makes mistakes. Its his responsibility to watch the 3 year old but I bet she does it 90% of the time cause you cant paly WOW and watch a three year old (Ive tried).

That is SO sad. I think the Father is not fit to be the Father. And if the Mother puts up with it then she is just as guilty as the Father. I would alert child services that not only did this occur but that about the punishment. That is completely inappropriate. Who knows what else these children endure that you don't even know. You can report it anonymously

i think you are right he should not have had them outside with out watching them. You can't even go answer the phone when your kids are outside in this day and age someone will take your child. A 7 year old does not know better and won't understand the punishment.

I have a 7 year old and a 13 month old. My daughter knows better and if she did that i wold let her have it.....Flip side.....dad should be fined arrested or something. That is straight up child neglect. I love video games. I play madden and halo on-line, but my kids come first. If you want to seee my kids check out my 360 page. When my daughter was five i let go out o the back yard while i was watching tv and she got hit by a car. I should have went to jail!!!!!!!
