An egg yolk is the part of an egg which serves as the food source for the developing embryo inside. The yolk together with the germinal disc is a single cell. The egg yolk is suspended in the egg white (known more formally as albumen or ovalbumin) by one or two spiral bands of tissue called the chalazae.

there is a thin string like line holding the yolk in place. the yolk has a thin costing around it, to stop it mixing with the egg white and the inside of the shell is coated with a thin rubbery interior cover. the yolk is suspended between these.

sometimes when u crack an egg, u can see a small string in there.

The yolk is held in place by a thick white membrane called a chilaza that you can see when you crack an egg...Thank you 7th grade Home Ec!

My guess is that the yolk is less dense than the white so it is not able to displace/replace the egg white in any direction and so stays in the centre. It probably has a skin too. Beatsa me.

You know that little white thing that is partly on the yolk and the clear part...that is a membrane that connects the two, keeping it in the middle

Because when the egg is an embryo, the egg white's function is to protect the yolk(embryo) in the middle against all hard knocks or whatever,so it is in the middle.
