Pay their cable bill for a year.
Gift certificate to the local nursery (for this spring's plants)
Gift certificates to the places they like to eat.

My mother is 84, doesn't have cable and never goes out to eat. What I buy her may be a bit boring for you to consider...but my mother does not drive.

For Christmas I always buy her tons of laundry detergent, bleach, window cleaner, furniture polish, etc. All the things that are a necessity...things she will not have to buy and carry into the house. She loves it.

I buy her a few other things, like new kitchen curtains and new bedspreads...but she really gets a kick out of the laundry and cleaning supplies.

Best to get them pratical gifts they can use. hmm 70 isn't too old I have an 87 year old grandfather he's getting Western books tomorrow for Christmas :)

How about a barbecue set or I like the crusie idea I have been reading but if it is a bit costly how about 1 years of having their house cleaned by those cleaning contractors. I think they are called Jeeves cleaners or James Cleaners, something along those lines.

Good Luck

dat is very sweet of u thinking of ur parents here i hav some ideas may it works
1.Paint a family portrait on a ceramic platter for your parents. If you are not good at painting, you can try getting a photograph printed on it as a customized gift that every parent will be proud of.
2.A great holiday keepsake that your mom or grandma will love is a ceramic signature platter in which all the family members can sign with a special black marker. You can then get the platter fired and your gift is ready.
3.If you are good at crafts, cut out one good photo of each family member and make a 3D scene by sticking foams with different depth behind him or her. This homemade gift idea if for kids.
4.Get a number of soft wool fabric squares printed with great family snap shots and sew them together to make quilts. A photo of each Christmas you have spent with your parents will be the best.
5.You can make family tree from a unique candleholder by hanging tiny frame photo of each family member on it using wire. Include the photos of your mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, siblings and yourself.
6.Fathers that smoke will love quality Cuban cigars and an ashtray too.
7.Roses for your mom will certainly make her smile.
8.A beautiful platinum necklace for mom and platinum ring for dad would be an ideal gift for parents.
