Eat healthy (meats, eggs, fats like butter, lard, olive oil etc, limited fruit, lots of vegetables, raw nuts, yoghurt, eliminate or seriously lessen sugar if you can) brush twice a day and floss once daily properly. You could also try salt water rinses, that can help. And a good idea too is to take cod liver oil daily, it contains vitamin A and D naturally, plus omega 3 and all these things help the bones and gum tissue.
Bleeding gums is quite common, but can be a sign of a very real problem and possible periodontal gum disease or the early stages of it (which is very common). You need to start working on boht the external side, but also internal so your body can get stronger, therefore the bones and gum tissue will also and help rebuild.
Taking a natural bonemeal supplement helps also.

Your dental surgeon is an idiot who should not be allowed to practice. If he wants to know who said this my email address is henkenm@tpg.com.au. Your teeth need urgent attention. The bleeding is caused by a buildup of tartar on your teeth and has to be removed. This is best done by a Periodontist. If it is not done your teeth will get lose and you will lose them. Your breath will smell and your gums will rot. It will affect your health and your love life. Once that is done brushing and flossing will stop the bleeding. But have a checkup twice a year.

Is it just when you brush? Because that's pretty common. You have gingivitis, and you just need to brush more (but not too hard--as that makes your gums bleed, too). The dental surgeon is right. I'm not even sure why you'd go to one regarding it, unless your teeth are falling out or something.

You probably have gingivitis - at some stage. Use a Water Pik every night followed by a 3-minute rinse with salt water. Or you can buy some Glyoxide at the drugstore - follow the directions after the Water Pik. If it is serious, you can have your roots scraped. The condition will deteriorate your gums. It is irreversible.

It's serious. You could lose your teeth, and then you'd need dentures. You can also get an infection that can affect your heart or your brain. Start brushing and flossing, and get a new dentist.
Did you hear the dentist right? Or did s/he say that it could be worse, that you're not too bad right now?

YES THEY ARE SERIOUS!!
Maybe it is time to switch dentists...
Let me tell you a story-
My parents (which ever one got it first, I don't know)...anyway, they both ended up with serious mouth infections from gengivitis...and bleeding gums is a sign of this. They have been on serious vitamins and have been going to an oral hygenist ever since.
Start flossing immediately...not to mention, call a new dentist!

Well, I have sensitive gums that bleed occasionaly when I brush but not too often. If that's the case then you should be fine. But if they're bleeding a lot,you definantly need a 2nd opinion.
