More importantly, where does Christmas originate from?

2006-12-23 19:47:03 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 3 0

Christians don't really ALLOW other people to celebrate Christmas. They can do whatever they want. Besides, who is a person to say that another person isn't a Christian. Only God knows our hearts. Other religions also celebrate their own holidays around the same time we celebrate Christmas.

I hope you mean Pagans by the use of other religion.
Paganism is a older religion than Christianity. and we have a Holy Day called Yule (also called the Winter solstice,Dec 20-23). the only other pagan holy day that falls on Christ-Mass is of Roman origin (SATURNALIA).Which is what most people confuse the dates with. These were celebrated way before CHRIST-MASS.and the true date of the birth of the CHRIST child may have been moved by the Christian Church to get the pagans to convert to their religion. The Bible descriptions and a little knowledge of life back then. Would point to a spring or fall birth. As there were still Sheppard's in the fields tending their flocks a the time . If it was winter even in the Mideast the flocks would have been brought in from summer pasturage and put in the Basement barns or other enclosures to protect them from the cold and wild predators.

It's the other way around, Why did the other religions allow Christians to celebrate Christmas?

What is the other religion?

Christmas is a created holiday based on the yule celebration founded by the Druids and adopted by the Catholic Church in 600 AD.

Jesus was born at tax time in Bethleham which starts in March and is done in April. The star that announced His birth was probably Jupiter in conjunction with the Moon in Early April, 6BC.

So, if you as a Christian celebrate "Christmas" then you are really giving tribute to the Pagan Gods, They like:

Evergreen trees with lights
gifts
White, red, and green
candles
feasts
mistletoe
wreaths
snow (no snow in Bethleham!)

Sound familiar???

So, how about you actually read the Bible instead of nursing at the teet of a church that feeds you lies wrapped in folklore???

I cant think of any other religion that celebrates Xmas, and why would they ever want to?
I celebrate the holiday and the time off work, I also have a very strange habit of watching some TV pro grammes over this period where all the Christians are gathered to gether signing their hymns etc, and wondering what they are really like in the real world, my imagination runs wild at times, just watching them, its better than some of the comedy shows on TV..

Okay, firstly, WHAT other religion?

Secondly, Christmas was NOT a Christian holiday originally. It was a pagan holiday (Yule) celebrating the winter solstice. It was for all practical purposes hijacked by the Christian church because the people refused to stop celebrating it.

You must mean:

Why did Pagans allow christians to celebrate the Winter Solstice.

Seeing as this time of year is actually a pagan Holy Day.

It Is the Day that my Lord and Savior mithra was born (Dec. 25th)

And it is a Solstice which is a Holy Day for thousands of other religions.

Because Christmas is NOT a christian festival.

It's a corruption of the pagan Winter Solstice.

So you question should read, why to Pagans let Christians celebrate Solstice.

Celebrating your own birthday is haram. Celebrating the prophet Muhammad pbuh birthday is haram it somewhat is all thoughts that weren't practiced on the time of the prophet Muhammad pbuh, so why could we practice it now?? will we like him greater suitable than his companions? of course no longer. My information comes from the Hadith the place Muhammad pbuh pronounced the believer has 2 holidays (eid ul fitr) and (eid ul adha) so basically those 2.

Christians stole the holiday from the pagans and then perverted it. We are just celebrating the holiday that was ours to start with. The Winter Solstice, and Yule.
