Hi there...cats make this chittering/chirping sound when they see something and it excites them beyond belief. It is quite normal as is instinctual.

Here are some videos of cats who do this:

it could have something to do with the settee, yet that must be a accident. If the interior the ear ended up getting fluid retention from the wear and tear in would worsen the cat. Sounds lots like an ear an infection or mites to me, the two will choose for some medicine to sparkling it up. attempt to maintain him from scratching at it as much as achievable, they'd tear up the exterior with their nails and upload a bacterial an infection on remarkable of what ever started the subject. The vet would have the skill to tell you for specific after a speedy look and consistent with danger an ear swab to look for mites.

The answer before mine has a partial answer,
here's the deal ... Believe it or not, that noise they make is a primitive behavior and it works for them 80 percent of the time! It hypnotizes their prey
(a mouse, bird etc.) and actually puts the prey into a trance like distracted state and then the cat's rapid head movement confuses the animal prey into freezing and watching as the cat jumps and tackles its meal with their claws and teeth! COOL HUH? I love *******!

Is it making noises? When my cat sees a bird or something out the window it will make a chattering kind of meow. It just kind of goes mamama mama mama in kind of a chattering way. lol. It may see something you dont. A fly or something flying around the house. Cats make that weird noise when they see something they want to chase or catch it seems. Both mine do it.

kitty may be suffering from a toothache (trembling jaws). at any rate, the behavior is not normal and indicative that something is bothering your cat... trip to the vet is in order i think.

NOT USUALLY, but cats are strange beasts i've had 3 and they all had their own little quirks! also, if your given it cat-nip ( or kitty crack, as i like to call it) stop and it might stop this!! also it may have a large hairball stuck in its throat you can check pet stores for hairball remover if you cant afford an emerg vet.

No,I suggest you take yer cat to the vet asap!
One of my cats somewhat had the same problem, I just figured she was acting silly and really didn't look much into it. The next day she was acting the same way, took her to the vet. Vet told me she was having a seizure. :-/
