IT DEPENDS on if you Fix a heat shield between the two units....
No it's not good to put a Plasma ABOVE any Heat generator like that....BUT I have several customers with their Plasmas mounted just above the Fireplace, with only the Mantel sticking out to Deflect the heat......
You'll have to do that too....And please....don't stick cardboard between the two and think that is going to SAVE your TV....
Try 3/4 inch Plywood with a 1 inch air gap....and 1/2 inch Plywood on top.....
Metal with a Blo-Foam Insulation (bottom sheet not attached to top sheet) as a heat deflector....or check some Fireplace companies that design heat deflectors....

NO NO NO NO. The plasma and lcd's are hot and the air circulation is important. Hot air near it will act like no ventilation.

No it is not. All screens get very hot and any excessive heat can cook your solder joints in the circitry. You should have a good air flow around your monitor.

Heat can damage electronics as well as warp the TV itself.

Not if you want it to last. It won't be able to cool itself properly and overheat damaging the screen...and eventually killing it all together!

I would think it would be ok , if you can turn your rad down do that. Or check with the manufacturer. ENJOY!! I want one!
