Hi there and Merry Christmas, The only plip I am aware of that was fitted to your car of that age was the standard Nissan type which is oblong with round ends and it has 2 buttons, 1 red and the other black, the door pins switches are bad for loosing their earth which can cause the alarm to sound, the door lock switches are also prone to failure but these would normally not allow you to arm alarm and would throw open the cdl on locking. Sounds like you may have an aftermarket alarm, If you can bare noise find alarm sounder and disconnect sounder then trace back wires to source or power and remove positive thus disabling alarm. If you have a Nissan handbook you may be able to disarm ultrasonics internally but then again it could be something totally different.
Good Luck!
ps there are sometimes also a bonnet switch fitted under the slam panel and this can be missed when checking system.

Try turning the Key in the door locks and trunk locks watching the security light. The door unlock switch on the key cyl. Turn the lock slightly past the unlock security light should go out. test each door and trunk both lock and unlock. I reccomend rolling down one window when starting this test.

We had a Micra but it didn't have the fancy alarm.

You might find help on the Micra.org.uk forum: http://www.micra.org.uk/forums.php.

Sorry I couldn't help more.
