Now that we are right here at the top of the holiday season, I was thinking. After I get my gifts what is the proper way to say thanks. I remember being a child and my parents had me fill out thankyou cards and mail them. But in todays day and age of electronics is an email just as good? Does it depend on whom you are thanking? I am curious to see who can give me the best answer and best explanation as to why they think that way.

It is still the best way!

Send a small handwritten note to say thank you! An email can come across as an easy way out where a hand written note says you took the time to make sure the giver knows that they are appreciated.

If possible, for those that went above and beyond for you...a hand delivered note with a bottle of wine or something similar would be great!

Just make sure you send a card to everyone...even to Great Grandma who sent that $5.00 bill!

Merry Christmas!

If the person is there when opening gifts, a thank you along with a possible hug, etc. should be sufficient. If a gift was mailed, and the person is too far away or someone you don't visit all that much, a handwritten "thank you" would be proper. If it is someone you know you will be seeing soon, you can
opt for sending a thank you card or do so in person. Giving a
"thank you" gift can lead to a revolving door where the other person feels they should bring one the next time they visit you.
Emailing thank you's, to me, is improper as it is too quickly done.
Those should be reserved for people who provide you with good
information such as websites, jokes, etc. ..casual occurrences.

I think the traditional cards are a lovely idea however as you mentioned we are in the age of technology. I nicely written out E mail willdo fine just probably be specific about the present such as : Dear... thank you so much for the bathroom set I can't wait to incorperate it with my bathroom design.

You get the idea. You sound extremely thoughful so don't loose that quality

Good luck

I think the classic card send by mail to them is a good idea. Emails never work for those are cheap and free. Give them a perosnal vist after Christmas and thank them. If you want to give a really good thanks give them a gift back and/or take them out for hot Chocolate or somethin

Send via snail mail to older people who don't utilize e-mail. Send e-cards to those who have e-mail.
