my dog had this. It turned out she was allergic to the ointment. Stop using it immediately and call your vet for something else. Or call a knowledgable pet store and ask about treatments they have. Itll heal more slowly, but be patient. And make sure to note on a vets form that the dog may have an allergy to that ointment for future reference.

Have you taken him to the vet yet? He might be having an alergic reaction to something. What kind of dog is it? My mom has a Bichon and he is always scraching and biting himself most of the time to the point to where it is raw. The reason: Bichons and most other dogs have sensative skin, don't shampoo him with the same shampoo you use, and if you blow dry him put the hair dryer on cool. He also may have hot spots also common in Bichons and other small dogs. For hot spots you can find ointment and oils in the pet section of your local Wal-Mart or Meijers and other stores like that. Hope you figure out what is wrong. God bless you and Merry CHRISTmas. :)

Have the vet see him. There are so many causes for this that it's impossible to suggest a treatment that would deal with any and all of them. It could be fleas, allergies, or many other things.

Look into giving your dog one tablespoon/day of Liquid Flaxseed Oil in her food. It improves the coat and skin of dogs greatly. It also is an anti-inflammatory natural cure. :) Hope this helps!
