Good point, the biblewas written with the aid of God and the recorded words of Christ, it is the closest thing to God we have, but don't spend your life in any book, get out and do God's will and help others. Go in Christ

Good point.

Lets assume that something like what the Bible describes is true. These events occurred before the written word. They were passed on through generations of oral tradition. It does not make sense that the story did not become distorted over that time. Have you ever played the childrens game "Telephone" where someone whispers a phrase in the ear of the person beside them and the phrase is passed on to others in a circle? The joke of the game is that the final result is usually completely different from the initial phrase. Imagine this over the course of a thousand years. In all that time of people begetting other people, the story must have changed.

Even the New Testement does not contain the words of Christ. It contains interpretations of the life of Christ by several different people, put to words many years after the events.

The lesson here is that the Bible is at best an interpretation of events, not absolute truth. Each storyteller tells a slightly different story, including some events and excluding others. Sometimes people just make things up. How are we to tell where the truth lies?

The books of the Bible were chosen by men to be included in the Bible. There were other things that could have been included but were not. Can we truly say that we know that the right choices were made? Of course not.

None of this is to say that we should not believe in God; if we are to have faith it should be in God and not in every last word of the Bible. The Bible, one must always remember, is a creation of man, not of God.

Its funny.. that is a common misconception.I think most of the bible is hearsay because there was nothing written about jesus until 300 years after his death.. and then all the writings were choosen by one man or organization to be included in the bible..I think alot of what is written is things that were said that he said and did.. but then again you have to remember all the translations..I think the bible is just like a set of guidelines more than anything..Something to make us feel better and try to live right and do right for others and ourselves .But anyway.. its based on faith ,basically you know whats right and wrong ..every human does..and as for God's words.. listen in your heart and you will hear them ..

Man may have physically written down the words...but it is not the words of man.

In Isaiah God tells us His Word would not come back void. I believe Him. He has protected the integrity of His Word through time.

If you want a closer relationship with God, then get to know His heart and His will. Daily Bible reading is a great way to do just that.

Recommended reading: Start with the book of John (4th book of the New Testament.) Once you've read it, read it again. Reading the Gospels you can never go wrong. I love the book of Acts and Romans.

In order to deepen your relationship with God you will need to spend time with Him. As mentioned above daily Bible study is important. So is prayer, praise (www.klove.com) ((music and songs)) and worship. You will be amazed at what He will show you when you seek Him earnestly.

Because the first five books of the Bible are the Torah which are from God to Moses, so I'm guessing people wanted to say that the whole bible was then from God!

Religions know that there are mistakes in the Bible but they can't admit to it because it means that God made a mistake. So they ignore them and continue to tell people that they must believe that it's the word of God.

Good question -

I think you are right. The bible was written by men.

They are not god's words. The bible is so full of errors and contradictions, if god wrote it, he must have been drunk. Bottom line - you cannot get to understand something that does not exist.
