EDIT: i saw sunmans answer and it made me change my mind :oP i messed up (see i am man enough to admit it "Just this once") Do not listen to the people that say that you cannot, because you "Can".

Yes it is possible to be both, it is called Christian~Wicca.

Wicca is a religion that worships the God and Goddess, these Two deities are nameless for a reason, the god's that you worship as a wiccan Choose you! and for some wiccans these Gods turn out to be the Christian deities The holy spirit (in a female form) and Jesus.

Well i will leave you with a link to the Christian~Wicca home page.

Good luck! and remember DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE!
they just want to tell you NO but it IS possible :o)

Wicca, unlike what most people think, is not witch craft even though they may advertise so. If it advertises witch craft, then look for a better site. The wicca relegion is based on the use of nature, herbs and such like that. The "potions" that the "witches" make are out of herbs, with a cobination of different colors candles and stones that each have their own shakra, or oura (spelling?). Then here is the funny part, they pray- The only thing I did not like about the wiccans is they have two gods, a godess, and a god. But at the time I also thought that God was a jelous god and you could not pray to anyone but him. But the wiccans *are* praying to him when they pray to father god. I do not know much about mother god, but have always thought only having one god must be pretty lonely for him up there, ya know?

Practicing both religions will only be up to you, but having twice the hollidays! hey why not! Actually a lot of the christian hollidays, *are* wiccan hollidays. reason? When the romans switched to christianity they did not want to give up their pagan hollidays, so they merged the dates to the christian celabrations. So really, unknowingly, all us christians are practicing pagans lol- life is so ironic.

If you do try this, it will end up being neither a Christian religion nor a Wiccan one, but a unique mixture of both. I suggest that you try to learn the core tenets of each religion and write them down. Some examples of the core tenets of Wicca is a belief in more than one deity, usually a belief in reincarnation, a disbelief in absolute negative or absolute positive deities. Obviously, if you are going to mix the two religions, you will have to decide how many and which core tenets that you will discard of each religion. You will also have to decide how many core tenets you can choose to discard and still feel as if you are practicing that religion. If you find yourself discarding many tenets from each religion, I suggest naming your new religion to differentiate it from either of these established religions out of respect.

Are you sure that you are interested in the religion of Wicca, or are you simply interested in a few of the practices that the religion embraces? For example, herbal healing is used by people of many religions, yet it need not be a religious practice. Tarot cards are used by many people (religious and non-religious), it need not be a part in the Wiccan religion. I like the idea of using a pool of water for purification, but that doesn't make me a Christian. Baptism is a part of Christianity. But since I don't worship the deity of Christianity or believe in their main tenets and mythology, I'm not a Christian. I also agree with the golden rule, but that doesn't make me a Christian either.

Good luck in your search!

No, You cannot be both Christian and Wiccan.

I think I heard some where though Christianity and Pagan beliefs being mixed but thats just bull.

Wicca (or Paganism) is way much older than Christianity. They are both the same in some sense, yet very different.

For example, like this time of year Christians are celebrating the birth of their savior. Well, Pagans are celebrating the re-birth of their Sun God. Theres more to both stories of course but ill leave it at that.

Paganism doesnt have just one supreame God. There is also a Goddess. And much more into that mixture.
You see, pagans are much more open to other things. We call upon other Gods and Goddesses for assistance if we need it in certian things, but only if we need to. Like Egyptian Goddesses or Greek Gods. We call on them in a ritual and thank them with offerings later on.

Christianity has alot of morals.. I guess I will say to it. You do good you go to Heaven, Sin you go tot Hell. Which would keep someone on the right ethical path if they stay serious about it.
If they follow the Bible, in an ethical way, you know like you see all these people shoving the Bilble in other peoples faces because their not Christian, then its all good. I think some of the things that are put into the beliefs are silly, but other than that if the bible is followed then hey, right on.

In Wicca, we follow the laws of Karma. What you send out comes back three times, good or bad. We dont believe in a hell. Nor in a devil. We believe in having more than one lives. We also believe in natural healing! Which you know some may think thats silly but talking to this guy from India, he told me thats what they do instead of going to the doctor over every little sniffle and sneeze.

Both Wicca and Christianity is a "love thy neighbor" type religion.
I am taught to tolerate and respect everything.

So, I hope I helped.

The only thing wrong really with Christianity is the Christians themselves, the ones that arent tolerant. And Im sorry if I piss a few people off. But its true. Its not the religion itself. But it is its followers.

Please, focus more on your spirit and your God instead of yelling at people to join up.

I am happy being Pagan. Its helped me heal my spirit and grow so much. I used to be so shy and anti social. So many things were wrong with me now my issues are slowly floating away.

Of course the same thing can happen with Christianity. You just have to find out which religion works best for you.

Christianity I think is more of a community thing, Paganism is more earthly.

Thats just my thoughts tho.

im sorry, but no you cant have both religions.as wicca is a totally different religion and practice than is christian.the wiccans believe in both God and Goddess and the christians believe in one god.and also the christians believe in the devil, and we wiccans dont think that he exists.so how could we believe in him when we dont believe him?also,i might ad that the wiccans are intuned with the earth's nature and the workings of the earth.we use our herbs that the Goddess gave to us to use for our spells for healing and communicating better with the Devine.wiccans have a bad background when it is concerned with christians.the christians think that we are evil and are casting spells to harm ppl and contact the evil spirits.but truthfully it is all how you open your circle, and how your energy is inside the circle.thats' what really matters and ppl dont wanna take their time to read and search the real meaning of the truth of the art of practicing wicca.
i hope that this helps you understand the meaning of wicca as it seems that you are confused about wicca being the same as christians.probably b/c of the holidays.but that's a different story also.they took over our holidays in the begining of time when the romans invented the christianity religion.thus making us look like the devil's servants.

wicca is a religion that allows you to be you and do as you wish, as long as you don't hurt anybody......
so on the wicca part, it's ok.
but....do you think xtianity would allow you to be aslo wicca ?
nope, i don't think so, with all due respect, xtianity is a control freak religion.
but ....there is a third option : there is this new (or not so new) religion called wiccan-christianity, and it is like a mix of both.....i find this kind of spooky, but perhaps it can work for you.
i am not good at giving web sites, but do a little search and for sure you will find the guidelines of this religion.
semper ubi sub ubi !

bright blessings!

No you cannot be a christian and be a Wicca and don't let them tell you, you can! They are some sites on the Internet, just do a search. Wicca is part of the "new Age" movement.

I will not try to slam you or anything. If you are considering Wicca, and are calling yourself Christian, then you must not know what being a Christian really means. You cannot believe in both because their beliefs contradict.

I would like to pose a question to you before you delve deeper in this unknown religion. Religion is the search for truth in the world. If two things are in contradiction, and one of them is true, then the other has to be wrong. Do not go in a wrong direction, even if it is an easier or more enjoyable path to follow. Their can only be one truth. In the end, if you delve deeper into a religion that you are not sure of is true, it is not worth your time or effort.

Wicca is Pagan and definately not compatible with orthodox Christian views. You are free to choose as you wish. I would keep the Wicca side of you secret when mixing with Christians though.
